Firstly, we have decided to mix up our moderation and spam deputies teams, this allows us a fresh start on the forum. We understand how hard the moderation team works, especially when you've been doing it for a long time; however, we think sometimes it's good to start fresh, allowing us to bring a new lease of life to the forum. We would like to thank our previous moderators for their corporation.
If you actually meant that you'd have removed all moderators, with the exception of bans they're all equally "responsible". That you didn't raises massive doubts about the accuracy of what you're saying here.

I agree, but who on this forum will have the responsibility to decide about true or false information?
I think this is mainly related to the corona-thread (hope nobody uses this as a source of information) but it would be great if incorrect answers to questions of members would also be deleted.
Easy, we just ensure that we only post links to The Local. They never print fake news

Of course, look at the mods removed, and the spam deputy list too. This had nothing to do with misinformation or bullying. Just the local panicking after that Reddit storm (in a tea cup). It was a power grab, plain and simple, and the local fell for it hook, line, and sinker.

As we reopen the forum, we want to make sure this is a place for everyone. We won't tolerate any bullying, false information, conspiracy theories, homophobic remarks, sexist remarks and to be honest the list goes on.
I guess the only clear things there are bullying and sexist remarks. Never seen an homophobic one on EF.... or maybe mods delete them really fast?. If so, tell the story.

About false information, I guess it would be more practical to check for fraud which might be defined as giving false information with personal monetary gain as goal. So, I've only see misinformation out of ignorance and/or fear. None of the people writing about ivermectin have said "do you want to buy some?".

Back to fraud, some months ago the bitcoin/crypto thread was more active, Google should have detected some keywords and most of the ads to the right were tailored for me but they were between shady and fraud. I guess the answer in this case is that Google is liable, not in the hands of forum admins, etc. So, zero tolerance is a relative concept.

They closed the forum for an entire week to take the time to read and assess it, so I think it is reasonable to assume that they were able to make their own minds up about what they saw and didn't just 'believe what they read on Reddit'.
Yet all the posts from a certain member deriding people's mental health are still up? Great job they did

Dear MichaelHarold, I have 2 quck questions:

1. Who will decide what is false information and what is correct information? What will be a reference for false information?

2. You removed 3 of the most prolific and active moderators without replacing them with new ones. Why they haven't been replaced with new ones already? Isn't it dangerous to have even less moderation after the complete shutdown?

something changes that I don't like = plastering over the cracks.
something changes that I like = a fresh start
Iíll reserve judgement as to whether I like it or not until Iíve seen how things develop.

The way I see it is that it couldnít continue as it was so some changes were needed.
As things stand at the moment the four most contentious mods have all been removed (along with FMF who hadnít really been in the position long enough for me to judge) so the complainers from both sides of the spectrum should be happy.
The remaining mods seem to be pretty fair and balanced to me and with some new blood in the mod team things could turn out pretty well.

I've never seen anything homophobic either. And I'm liberal on the issue and would certainly be voting yes to the referendum without any doubts whatsoever if I had a vote.

The mods, presumably.

It depends on the level of harm the incorrect information would cause. Stating that brown sugar is available at the shoe shop is very unlikely to harm anyone.

No one should be banned anyone for posting false information, rather posters who insist on pushing an agenda to the level of trolling. The end result is the same of course! Just the proximate cause is the posting, the ultimate cause is trolling.

I believe FMF's idea of "tolerance" was of good intention, but at the end turned out to be close to a complete lack of moderation. This is how the Covid threat got out of hand, Covid spread into all sort of other threads and contaminated the entire forum. The cherry on the top for me was the obviously biased banning of some members a few weeks ago, while others could go on to spread their nonsense without any moderation.
Why are you singling him out? There were HOW MANY other moderators? Why didn't they step in in that case? Especially that FMF was new to the job.

His removal shows how much this "mix up" stinks. He'd only just become a moderator!

The mods in question were already removed at the beginning of the week. I must assume Harold is a very fast reader.

I wonder what he spent the rest of the week reading though?

Let's not condemn people without giving them a chance to put across their side of the story.

I'm sure that the OP will be back shortly with an explanation.
