Contracting in Vaud

Hello,
I've been offered a position in Lausanne, as an IT contractor.
I'd like to know what the retention percentage of my gross salary would be considering that I'm single with no dependants. Let's say that the daily rate would be somewhat around 1400CHF.

Thank you.

That depends on how you structure yourself and how much of that amount is to be paid to an agent, oh and whetehr you are an EU citizen or not...

No, 1.400 CHF is the money I get every day, I don't have to take into account the agent's fee (that's negotiated privately by the Client and the Agency).
Finally, I've got European passport.

Thanks!

Re: Contracting in Vaud

Well,
I'm going to go through it but, you know, it's such a long thread and I'm not sure it'll clear up my doubts!
I was wondering whether there was an "easier" answer to my question, having considered that my situation is pretty straight-forward (single, no dependants, European resident, working thru an umbrella company based in Switzerland).

Thank you very much!

Re: Contracting in Vaud

Hi,
I read the thread and they say that's taxes would roughly be 30%.
1400*20 = 28000 * .7 = 19600 CHF (month)
But that's not exactly what I've been told by the agency.....where the percentage is much higher (43%)....
Who's right?

And a little like Rob I think you need to actually state your structure if you expect an answer. For example what is this umbrella company! What do they offer. In short your answer could be anywhere between CHF 1200 or CHF 600 or less! Go look at some of the threads in the business and entrepenuer section and you will understand why...

I can tell you for nothing that if it is like you say then

AHV/IV... 12.5%
PEnsion 7%
NBU/BU 2.5%
Tax, oh dear 36% (conservative)

I make that around 58% so you should be left with around 12K per month.

Re: Contracting in Vaud

In old days you can register yourself in Zug and work in Lausanne. I know lot of IT contractors back in 2000 playing this trick. I am not sure if it works now. If you are registered in Lausanne then be prepared to cut a big chunk for tax authorities.
