Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

Hello,

Happy New Year first off!

I am an artist living in Montreux, and am looking to display my work in a gallery. I am currently working on a Jazz themed series in time for the Montreux Jazz Festival

You can see a lot of my work here : www.acaciasgallery.etsy.com

Does anyone know of an art gallery looking for new artists in the area?
Thanks ever so much for any replies!

Best regards,
Krishala

Well I think your work is really good, I could see some of it on good album covers too (perhaps on assignement).

Why are you looking just locally to exhibit?

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

Thank you transition!

I guess I was looking locally because I don't have a vehicle and it's expensive to transport my work to galleries further out. Of course at the expense of a gallery itself that would be fine My budget is the starving artist kind!!

If anyone knows of any galleries looking for new work in Switzerland in general though your right it could be a great opportunity...

Thanks again for the compliment on my work!

Weren't all the greats at some point?

I could help you with transportation if you need, I would do it voluntarily as I think that is the last of your worries. Please reserve me the New Rio, I will be down that way soon if it's possible to pick up? I would like to buy a piece or two from you but I can't decide & trying to work out which ones as I think so many are really good.

i think you should take something for it & donate to a charity. Love your Bio BTW.

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

Transition,

Thanks so much for your post!! That is so cool of you to offer to help with transport should I find a gallery! Really, really kind

For the painting Rio, not sure if you noticed, but it is a small piece! I would have no problem sending it to you and wouldn't cost much at all to post. If you wish, let me know a price you have in mind and I will re-list it at that price. I work voluntarily for Caritas and would give them the profits - great idea and very generous of you..

I have just moved house this morning! So it's not at all presentable (think boxes to the ceiling when you open the door ) Would love to show you my work in person but it falls badly with my move. If you wish to see further pics of a particular piece I can definately do that! Let me know which others you like from my shops and I will make you a very good discount. I want to lower my prices a little on Etsy but haven't had the time because of the move.

PS thanks for the compliment on the BIO

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

I'll add to the compliments; your work looks very interesting on the webpage, and I am glad you are getting into the Jazz scene. Maybe contact the Cully Jazz organization for their 2012 Affiche.

Perhaps locate some architect's offices and see if they'd be interested to place your works in their offices, or their newly opened works. Their clients would take notice and the architects would benefit from a positive synergy with their client. Among two big guns in VD are: http://www.luscher.ch/ http://www.mangeat-wahlen.ch/

Here is the SIA address: http://www.sia.ch/f/index.cfm

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

hi, you say you are looking for an exhibit hall in Montreux but you location states Geneva.
.
would you be interested in a location in GE at all?
.
if so, and I don't know if you would be interested in this... the organization I work for often hosts art exhibits in the grand lobby... we don't get much public coming thru but the halls are all open for delegates and visitors to conferences

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

Not in Montreux but i get always invitations from Galerie Rigassi in Bern. People say it's a privilege if they accept you as an artist. They are one of the most aknowledged galleries in Switzerland.
If you know them you're in the "scene"...

Anyway, I don't care. But here's their address. They may can help you:

Galerie Rigassi
Münstergasse 62
3011 Bern
www.swissart.ch/rigassi

Oh, and look around the swissart.ch page, too
And you may contact the Verband Schweizer Galerien AGS
I guess they have a homepage. Good luck!

They like to change quite a lot, upto 6 exhibitons a year and your art is very thematic for Montreux. From what i've seen exhibted there and from the pitures you posted, i can't imagine it's going to be that difficult to get them to accept to exhibit your pictures !

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

Hi
I don't know the galleries but I used to work at Clinique La Prairie-a very exclusive clinic in Montreux ,lots of international clients, there were regular exhibitions by artists, it might be worth contacting their PR dept.

Maybe a bit too far for you, but Olivia at Artplace 88 near Bern is always showing work from "new" artists.

Re: Artist in Montreux looking to exhibit work

I am interested in all over switzerland now for an exhibition as I have found a solution transport wise.

In terms of volunteering in the art gallery business I can be based in Montreux, Vevey and Lausanne.
