The Japanese market is oversold I think it is also unethical to short....
Personally I would follow the situation and buy when it's dropping like a stone as yesterday or when the reactors are cooled down eventually (but in that case you will buy at higher prices).
I would sell the yen since in the long term the currency will have to be weaker...now it can stay strong and get stronger for repatriation effects (or speculators anticipating the repatriation...)
Gold: Hold it
Silver: buy it lower
Oil: buy
I had to sell the yen just after writing this post ...now I would be up 3-4% depending on the bought currency ...damn it...i did not think about a joint intervention so soon...G7 learning to be resolute and quick...surprising from bureacrats

Would have been a good gamble...

not sure if your other strategies would have held true though

Re: What is going on today in the stock market? [Big falls in value]

I am only 20 years old, but love playing the stock market what i have been doing for the past 2 years is buying stocks when everyone is panicking. My portfolio can be empty for an entire month sometimes even two but when it all comes downs i stand there when there horde of bulls comes running towards me, I hardly ever trade stock not listed on major indexes which gives me some comfort not having to do all the research. The trick is choose a company that is big, strong..a powerhouse in whatever area it my be watch it closely for a few month so that you know even in your sleep whats its years high whats its year =s low watch how much it trades upwards till it comes down again and vis versa... then you reliese its all just a game, hundred percent you can burn your fingers bad and loose money but at the moment im up over 120 percent of my invested money so...but im just 20 years old so...

I would recommend patience and possibly withdrawing from the market. There is a lot of volatility.

That said, the recent downturn may likely just be temporary. But it's like riding a rollercoaster, so make sure to be careful.

In any business where you can make money you have to be careful !

And the reason why I like UBS at the moment, is because i know them well i have been trading them for a long time and think thy are going to be one of the biggest gainers on the SMI this year. Thy used to be worth 80 CHF a piece and thy def. have lost lots of there potential in the market but at the current price of 16.64 thy are UNDERVALUED ! even if thy only recover to 30 USD thats fine with me

currently UBS: 17.28 thats a 5.4% return in 22 days, be greedy and wait for more gains or keep to protocol be happy with this, sell and wait for next opportunity ???
