Question for all online shop owners

I was wondering if anybody out there with a webshop or who works or sells a product or service out of the home would be interested in organizing a kind of social event or home party type of thing on a very informal basis.

After having started my own online shop, I have discovered a lot of others (mostly owned by stay-at-home moms) that I never even knew existed.

Just an idea, but it might be fun to get together to show what we have. We could rent some kind of party room (most communities have large rooms with kitchen and bathroom facilities that can be rented for the day- often for fairly cheap). If we could get say 5-10 people together who would like to show what they have, it would cost maybe 10-20 francs each.
There are usually lots of tables and everyone could take as much room as they need. Another thought would be to send out invitations (not restrict it only to expats or the english community, but invite other friends, neighbours etc.) We could offer tea, coffee, snacks. Instead of making anyone feel like they have to buy something, it could be more of a social thing and a way to get to know new people as well as present our products or service.

I'm not interested in organizing a big event, just something for fun that also won't cost a fortune. I would love to hear if anyone is interested or has any other ideas.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Question for all online shop owners

Hi,

Are you still interested in this networking event? It's been a long time since you posted that question. I'm a newbie in this ecommerce, but I'd love to meet and exchange some experiences, ideas etc. I'm thinking about switching my career from corporate world to online as anything web technology was always sth I loved.

Let me know if you want to meet. I'm also thinking about creating a mind master group for owners of online shops in CH but I don't know so many of them yet.

Cheers,
Justyna

Re: Question for all online shop owners

Hi Justyna,

Hope you are doing well, I am glad you just replied to this first post that as you said was posted long time ago.

I am in the verge to launch a product to sell it online and I have a background in Information Technology. However there are many things that I am still researching before actually launching my store. For example where to actually legally incorporate the company, since my product is going to be produced in other country but Im going to be based in Switzerland, etc.

So we could exchange some knowledge if you already have your online shop working and myself I could help to start setting up the online community for online shop owners in Switzerland and promote networking, we could even set it up as a complete site of its own.

Hope to hear from you soon and continue this conversation.

Best Regards,
Daniel.

Re: Question for all online shop owners

Buna Daniel,

ok, so let's meet

I am going to attend this event on Monday, 28.09 at 18.15 in Zurich, next to main train station. It is free and I DO BELIEVE it will help you decide about the legal structure. You just need to register.

I attended one of those, but in German (I got lost after 5 mins ). Now they started to do it in English as well so I'm definitively going.
I see that you have moved further from Zrh, but if you happen to have time, let's meet, learn sth during the course and chat later.

Cheers,
Justyna

Re: Question for all online shop owners

Hi, thank you very much for this information. Unfortunately I am still not in Switzerland, right now I am living in Nice, France. I'll be arriving to Switzerland mid-October. So I will go to the course that is planning in November.

However it will be nice if you could speak after this course you take maybe it will solve some of my doubts before I go to the course myself, I can even make a list of questions that can as well help you once you are there.

Lets keep in touch through [PM]

Cheers.

Hi Justyna

Just saw this thread! Seems an exciting new opportunity compared to my rat-race in corporate world. Have you started something already and share your experiences ?
