Re: The start of a Business.......Just Samosas

Congratulations! If I were there I'd order them right now!!

I don't know if you changed the prices but they look spot on to me.

If I'm going to give any feedback I'd say shouldn't it be "Menu & Price"? Isn't "Rate" more like a hotel room? Anyone know?

Best of luck!

Pather, this is awesome.

Couple of questions:
1. Are these ready-to-oven? Must they be fried in oil?

Yes, they are ready to fry, to be baked you need to brush them liberally with oil

2. What's the delivery procedure? Must I be home to collect or can you post through the mail box?

Right now, you should be home to accept delivery, I can delivery at a time when it is best suited to the customer, but please not after 10pm. The samosas need to stay frozen until you are ready to cook them, ergo, from freezer to freezer concept.
Posting is more expensive, I have to post priority with Thermal packaging, which you have to post back, total cost Sfr16

3. I will be ordering the two vegetarian ones. I feel these are very reasonably priced but the meat and fish ones are a little expensive (I know beef costs a lot but even still). I would recommend researching farms etc where you can purchase beef in bulk cheaply.

Thanks I will research the farms. Cost is high because, I do NOT buy bulk and store ingredients. I buy as each order comes in, so that I ensure that all ingredients are fresh!
500gr of Mince yields 25 South African Samosas (are6cm in height), and 16 North Indian Samosas(7.5cm in height)
And they are PACKED with filling.

Also I like the name. Don't expand beyond sauces/chutneys and perhaps a bhajia or two. Specialisation is the key and I will order from you when able.

Great idea... maybe you could do an open to delivering cooked ones too?

I hope you're successful - the Swiss I know love love love samosas, they love the pastry.
I make my own samosas and then freeze them, so I know how long it takes - not sure of the prices, they don't seem outrageous to me, and Zuri is much more pricy than round by me.

I know the best recipe for chutney to go with potato samosas, hmm maybe get in touch if you're interested in expanding into dips okay now I need to leave this thread... otherwise I'm gunna spend my free morning covering the kitchen in turmeric and flour...
Yes I could do Cooked ones, not too keen on that, mainly because until they are delivered, they are not as good, but you know this!

How lovely someone who makes Samosas, and realizes the work that goes into these appetizers which dissapear in seconds!

I dont think anyone can imagine how time consuming it is to roll each circle, cut, fold, fill, seal......

Just imagine, it is like you have your very own Indian, making samosas just for you. Because essentially that is what it is about, orders that are done just for that one customer. High Quality, Great Taste, No Compromis

When I cook, I cook, with the same concentration, care and interest as I would for my family and guests. And that is why a beef samsosa costs Sfr2.20!!

If anyone thinks my prices are outrageous, check my competition out, they are situated in Olten. www.samosas.ch

Hey Pather

Did you already answer the question about delivery to Zürich?
What about one evening where you do all the Zürich deliveries?
Oh and get a native German translator, the German page is full of mistakes.

edit: Oh and do you attach a preparation description? Stupid as that sounds some of us have no idea how to fry/bake them properly.

Will check the German on the site, thanks

I am giving alot of thought about delivering to Zurich, the truth be told, I am sh*t scared to drive in Zurich, really, when I am in the passenger seat i get knots in my stomach!

But I do like the idea of a Single day during the week when I do the Zurich Deliveries, then, my hubby can drive!
He is in China right now, I will update the site on Saturday morning

Pather,

First of all, congratulations on the new business, I wish you a lot of success! I - very selfishly, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE samosas- second what people above said: please consider the possibility/feasibility of doing a delivery per week (or even every two weeks to begin with) to Zurich - as Upthehatters said, Viadukt is a good idea (edit: as if we all needed extra excuses to come down to have a few drinks).

If you deliver to Zurich, I will be a faithful customer of yours - also, I would like to "educate" my very food-conservative coworkers on samosas, and that would be a great chance.

Congratulations again!

Re: The start of a Business.......Just Samosas

Right, a Samosa party has to be done.

Pather. get in touch with Grumpy Grapefruit and find out if he knows what it takes to get a temporary 1 day table up and running at the Viadukt for the evening. (Thursdays). I am sure we have critical mass here to get a launch off the ground and I for one will attend and buy a few dozen. I think you may even have enough interest for a regular spot. I will pass the word around at work (we have a large contingent of batchelor Indian males that reguarly order their food in) and we can make a party of this all.

Listen to the hatters, tons of people in Zürich love samosas, if I know there'll be fresh samosas and a cool beer at viadukt...

From this thread:

Want to sell high quality food in Zurich? Cheap market spaces available.

You cannot sell hot food to eat, only food and ingredients to take home.
Not sure how he sells bagels because they aren't really ingredients.

She would also need a food handling license.

I would love to buy samosas from you, and that too on a regular basis. And I can assure you that there would be many people like me.

Your main market would be Zuerich. You could perhaps come down to Zurich on fixed days every week and deliver to people (without, or with reduced delivery charges). I know of people who do such things, and it greatly increases their sales.

Suggestion: once a week in zurich
Minimum purchase 12x
Reserve by phone
free delivery
