Re: Swiss passport holder wanting to set up Sole Trader, help please?

Hi Energy Girl,

Would you mind sharing what you have found out about how to start your business in Switzerland? I am also a Swiss passport holder but do not live in Switzerland. I want to register a company I have in the US and use a Swiss virtual office. All my work can be done via internet - I don't need a physical address for anything but to register and receive occassional mail.

What I have found out is that you need one of the directors of your company, say a GmbH, to be a resident of Switzerland with a physical Swiss address. I filled out and sent in all the paperwork to register myself in a canton, but they seem to have lost the paperwork!

Anybody interested in trading business address services? I have addresses in Spain, Alaska and Los Angeles, but I now need one in Switzerland - preferably Basel.

Cheers,
Gaby

Hi Gabyp,

I'm now moving to Zurich and setting up business there, so I'm no further with info than this thread for which I am very grateful to everyone that has responded!

Not sure how long I will be there for, (have very itchy feet) in which case I will post further information.....

Hi Energy Girl,

Do let me know what you find to be the requirements for setting up a GmbH in Switzerland. I am just establishing my residency, after which I believe I can be the Swiss member of the GmbH. Very time consuming process however...

If you read the thread properly you would see that Energy Girl is looking to set herself up as a Sole Trader. This has nothing to do with a Gmbh. There is so much information about about setting up a Gmbh on this site and on the internet. A quick search will find you a better thread to post your questions in.

Good luck.

Re: Swiss passport holder wanting to set up Sole Trader, help please?

I will be setting up a GmbH, much more logical from a financial standpoint given that I will be based out of Zurich now and registering my residency.

As for setting up the GmbH, as MiniMia suggested there are a number of threads on this topic, there are also company formation organisations that can set this up for a fee, they can also advise of the requirements.

What is it you are finding time consuming?
