Website Updating

Hi everyone.

Does any one have a rough idea how much it costs to update a website. By this I mean changing text and adding photos to an already existing site.

Thanks in advance.....Mike

Re: Website Updating

This comes under the "how long is a piece of string" range.

Is the site static HTML?
What version of HTML is used?
Are style sheets used?
Will the images be provided, and in what format?
How many pages and images will be changed?

from your question, it is obvious that you are not IT-savvy.
rather than (try to) answer a bunch of techno-babble that you will doubtless be showered with shortly, it may be simplest to post the address of your site.

the web-savvy can then make an educated guess about what sort of work is required, and may be better able to help you...

Re: Website Updating

Thanks for the quick replies.
Basically all of the text and pictures have to be changed, but leave the layout the same.

Re: Website Updating

I could do it for between 4-5k, some would do it for less but it wouldn't be as good.

Given the web designers I used to work with, that *is* his hourly rate...

Edit: Quick skim of the site, and I'd say Nigel's prices are fair.

I think about Tree Fiddy.
Seriously, how much text and how many pictures?
If the images don't need any editing then, no more than a days work.

Re: Website Updating

I looked at the website, and it is quite svelte. It also said:
"designed by Oksana Frewer". Is she related to the OP?

Out of curiosity, I did a google on Oksana Frewer. Guess where it led to: EF! So, the OP may even able to contact the original webdesigner.

Seriously, the website is a simple Java script slideshow referring to numbered jpgs as background. The navigational structure is also relatively simple, but really looks like there is a content managing system behind it. Getting access to the CMS means that any IT-noob can use it. Which is the sensible thing to do here (instead of back-engineering the CMS from scratch).

Re: Website Updating

I think you've already found someone, but in future you could just go to any college campus and you'll find a script monkey willing to do it for hardly anything and a case of beer. I used to do this stuff all the time in college.
