Factory Site Visits

Hoi zäme,

As a newbie to my company and having been nominated for a Social Commitee, I've been tasked at work with organising a factory visit in the Zürich area. This is part of a series of organised team building activities. Does anyone know if people do this in Switzerland and which companies do this? I was thinking of maybe an airport or a visit to the backoffice of the HB/SBB?
Thanks
CD

A brewery tour is always a fun team building trip. But haven't done it myself here in CH

Most large companies do offer tours and I wouldn' say it is a common thing but it happens quite a bit nevertheless.

Some of the more interesting ones I've been one

- control room of SBB near Langstrasse. It's fascinating to see the trains come in on the monitors of the control rooms and the schedulers handle them all in that massively complex junction of tracks.

- As Chemmie has said, breweries.

- behind the scenes at airport.

- VBZ workshops (see trams in different stages of overhaul and all the steps that go into keeping them going)

- ABB Semiconductor factory in Lenzburg (with cleanroom tour)

- NZZ Printing

- ERZ/EWZ incenerator with ditsrict heating system in Hagenholz (tour included a ride on the underground railway they use to do maintnenance in the tunnels)

Re: Factory Site Visits

How about the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc near Bulles, followed by lunch in Gruyères?

Or the Alprose factory in Magliaso, and then go for lunch across the border in some pretty Italian village?

Re: Factory Site Visits

We had a visit to SR Technics aeroplane maintenance facility at Zurich airport recently - fascinating and highly recommended.

Not very often I've had the chance to roam around those parts of Airbus aeroplanes that you only ever see from a distance, including having a good investigation of the engines !

Cheers,
Chris

Re: Factory Site Visits

Best factory visit I ever did was Laederach chocolates near Glarus (the guys that run Merkur). Much better than any old chocolate factory - and definitely 100 times nicer than the terrible Alprose stuff!

They dont actually make chocolate there (they get that straight from Lindt) but instead make things out of chocolates, like truffles or soccer balls or factory logos etc. Definitely well worth the visit.

How many people?

The Bier Factory in Rapperswil does tours/apero. It's really small so you would need to take that into consideration. The production area "factory" is in one room.

Here's a link to the options and a bit about it: http://www.bierfactory.ch/tours/?lang=en

Let me know if you need more info.

Sorry, I don't know. It wasn't me who set that up.

Start off with somebody on the PR side of SBB maybe?
