Hi all,

I am giving a 2-day workshop for a company and would like to hear people's input on how much I should charge them. The participants will be charged from 800-950 CHF per person including lunches, snacks, materials, drinks, etc. The company will provide the space, do the marketing and handle the registration.

I anticipate that beyond the two days, I will also invest a significant amount of time in preparation (potentially a week or a bit less?).

How many people on the workshop?

What quality of lunch, snacks, etc?

What do you mean by materials?

Is it repeatable?

People: Min. 6 people, Max. 10-ish.

Quality of lunch, snacks: I think I will have a say in this--but mid to high quality.

Materials: my own materials (take-away ideas, summaries, guidance, etc. in the form of photocopies)

Is it repeatable: Yes. I have some material already prepared (in the sense that I am not starting from scratch) but will tailor/enhance/develop for this audience. These materials could then be used again for a similar workshop somewhere else.

I was thinking a percentage split of some kind rather than an hourly rate or lump sum. Not sure if this is common.

The issue with a % is that if the company don't do a good job marketing and selling your workshop then you could end up talking to 1 or 2 people for peanuts.

I'd charge somewhere in the region of 2K CHF.

Thanks for your willingness to provide feedback. I really appreciate it! Just to clarify - The workshop will not take place unless 6 people sign up - so we will have an income of 6 X the fee at least.

it really depends on your position/name/cv...

an important CEO/entrepreneur gets 15,000/20,000 a day
a professor from the MIT gets 6,000/7,000 a day
an average skilled person can get between 1,000 to 2,000 a day
anybody can get the trip+the accomodation+meals for free

In order to estimate pricing, we also need to know the topic/content of the workshop, the audience attending and your qualifications. If you 'd like to share these, I'm sure you can get some more feedback.

If it's nuclear physics to MIT professors and you're a nobel laureate... or... it's cooking classes for teenagers and you're an amateur cook....

800 francs for 2 days is not a lot
6 X 800 = 4800
I doubt the organizers wish to pay 2K of this amount, but you could try, it would depend on the need & your subject area expertise.
