| | Start a business in Switzerland
hi guys,
i thinking of moving to Switzerland and start a small private business so I'm thinking about a small restaurant or a tourism agency, so what do you think? is it a good idea? and i wonder if someone has some info about what i need to do and the average cost for that kind of business and which city is suitable for me.
Thanks a lot

As a Syrian national I think it may be difficult to get a permit here, but if you have a good business plan and the finances to back it up you can certainly try. Have a look at the www.bfm.admin.ch website for info on working here.
Good luck.

Syrians = non-EU, just as Indians, Singaporeans, Australians, Americans etc. are.
Preference: EU nationals and Swiss nationals.
More info from the Government here.

Quota limitations for what the Swiss call "third country nationals", i.e. only a set number of permits are issued each year. As jrspet says, it's Swiss and EU nationals first, everyone else second. Doesn't mean it can't be done, just that you may have to work harder to get here.

All the information above is good.
One thing to consider is... as foreigner, it will be difficult to get a permit based on self-employment, unless you have Swiss customers and can prove it with recent invoices to these customers.
My tip, get a job here in the field you wish to be on your own. Establish yourself. Then move into self employment. Good luck!
