Coworking space in Geneva?

Does it exist? I know there are many in other countries. Would like to work outside of home and be surrounded by likeminded people and enterpreneurs.

Probably... though I have to admit I have no idea what 'coworking' is. Could you explain a little more? There might be members of EF who know where to find such places, but know it under a different name.

I hope you find what you're looking for!

Yes, this is about par for the course I reckon. The poster is obviously looking for shared office space, so why not suggest something useful and use a little intelligence. What I find amazing is that the second post got 2 thanks. Obviously nothing better to do.

Anyway, If you are looking for shared office space it may be a good idea to investigate the local small business groups, interest groups, or even the real estate/office renting in the local newspapers. Placing an ad in the newspaper would get genuine responders rather than time-wasters.

I suspect no-one wants to take and be responsible for the lease, as businesses which rent one desk space are, by nature of their size, more likely to be start-ups and may do a midnight-flit leaving unpaid rent. There are companies out there who do this for sole traders, artists, or small companies though.

This question came up for Zurich a couple of days ago, too but nobody really answered what "co-working space" meant there, either.

My spell-checker is also unsure and keeps prompting "cowering space" instead. :msnsarcastic:

It seems it's only an assumption that the OPs in both cases are looking for some shared space but neither have been back to confirm nor offer more detail.

It's not clear whether they want to share a position or a desk.

Ok, as far as I understand the term of coworking spaces is quite new. Probably, if I haven't come across them, I would not have known myself. But it's a very convenient thing. For detailed information, nicely described in wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coworking

But generally speaking, it's a spacious cafe with computers, or even without, but wifi, printers, tea, coffee. And you pay for the time, per hour, of staying there.

Yes, in the post about Zurich, Hub is the one.

These kind of places might be strange for conventional workers, but for start ups, self employed, home workers it is nice, comfortable and convenient. It is working atmosphere, possibility to meet people from your field or those whose services or help you might need. You may have meetings or presentations, seminars there.

I think sharing a position might be more normally termed "job sharing" where a full-time position is split between a couple of people. Some really good employers are flexible like this.

Often is accomodates women with children who may otherwise work in a part-time job but be unable to pick up their kids when they finish school for the day.

I have to go to Geneva frequently and i dont like to work alone. I found a really good coworking place http://regus.ch
They have coworking facilities in many cities and countries

Oh, thanks, that's what I was looking for. However, I thought Regus are dealing with property. This premises look very decent. Do you know anything more democratic?
