Looking to rent workshop space in Zürich and Winterthur

Hi everyone - I've recently moved to Winterthur and am setting up my business in Psychotherapy and Mindfulness teaching. Does anyone know where I can find a room or a studio space to rent in Zürich (and Winterthur) where I might be able to run workshops, courses etc for 10-15 people? Ideally a central location. I have found a room in Winterthur until April but would like to start looking for something in Zürich from January.

I also wanted to ask if users have any suggestions where I can begin to spread the news about my business (I know that's not allowed here) and reach an English speaking audience? Marketing and advertising is really not my strong point so any advice is gratefully received. Am in the classic situation of having no money to pay for advertising but need to advertise to get the work which can pay for future advertising. The joys of starting a new business I guess.

I just had a look at another thread on being self employed which was helpful so thank you for that too.

I know it's a bit of a trek, although Richterswil is on a direct train line from Winterthur, but Sail YSL's classroom is available for rent on an hourly basis when it's not in use. I can let you have more info if that could be of interest to you.

Thanks a lot for the info. I will get back to you if needed but have found a few places closer to central Zürich which may be more appropriate for the customers I have in mind. Appreciate you getting back to me.

The American Womens Club in Zurich have a few meeting rooms and studios they let out by the evening or day and I understand they're pretty reasonable.

And once you've been a member here for a week or so and made 10 useful posts you can advertise for free. (as long as they are of interest to the English speaking membership)

I think you can also try here: http://www.gesund.ch/index.html?info?/anzeigen/ins_pra

You will find many adverts with per day/per hour options here. Maybe there is something that will suit you.

There are Yahoo groups for different expat groups within Switzerland, e.g. Expats in Switzerland, Expat Moms in Switzerland... there may well be a Zurich one.

You could also try contacting the local psychiatric hospital, and local doctors. As you are offering services which they are unlikely to provide in English, they might be willing to have some business cards or flyers out in waiting rooms.

You could also use the free advert facilities at local Migros and Coop - print out some postcard-sized adverts that look professional (perhaps with tear-off strips) and ask if you can stick them up.

And as far as I know there's no rule that says you can't link to your website (if you have one) in your signature here on the forum. I do it, lots of other people on here do it, and I know I get hits from my website from that link.

Also you could create a Facebook page, a Twitter account, a LinkedIn account... even if you don't have a website you could have these.

And when you've got your group going, ask people for feedback and be sure to post that on your Facebook page or whatever (with their permission of course).

You could also set up a mailing list.

I'd also suggest (this may be my personal opinion) that if you choose to advertise on yahoo e-mailing groups and on here, that you take the time to ensure that you are a wide-ranging contributor to discussions. Personally, I am more likely to click on an advertising post if I recognise the user name as someone who contributes to the group in general.

Hope that helps.

Wanted to thank you so much for your suggestions. For some reason I've only just discovered your comment - but really appreciate all your ideas. Some of which I have done so good to know I'm on the right track, but you've given me a lot of food for thought which is great.

A big thank you!
Bella

Re: Looking to rent workshop space in Zürich and Winterthur

Just seeing what's out there and available and will create my workshops/classes around that. I would like to offer 2-3 day workshops (ie: fri, 5:30-9:30, sat, 10-5, sun 10-5) and once or twice a week classes during the week ie: mon/wed or tues/thurs - 5:30-9:30pm - bright space, for approx. 8-15 people - thanks!
