Good books. Particular magazines. Intelligent read on shelves you can page through, buy and read there over coffee. Textbooks, being surrounded by them... It is mostly all leftover production here from neighboring FR, IT and GE publishers, gets here with a delay, too. Overpriced. I really miss the study groups, meet ups and dates one had chillin in a local cafe/book store. And better art and sci museum shops, cafes, nifty and practical university shops, miss the social aspect of those and how practical it is to hop in when on the campus already. The last time I was at a campus cafe (GE) I got horribly shortchanged by a rude shop wench. Grrrrrr.

Very interesting comments from everyone

Remember though the focus is to bring something online, not a physical shop

Re: Do you miss any businesses / services from your country?

You could offer a service translating the bills, official forms, sent to ex-pats with limited language skillsetc.

Either request a pdf from the customer, scanned to a quality such that can be OCR'd
¦
or
¦
a high quality physical copy that you can then scan, OCR, translate.

Once a library of translated documents has been compiled, with the tender bits of identity [names, numbers] removed, your labor will drop rapidly.

charge per page, or per accuracy/speed of delivery, which would have to be balanced against the complexity of the document [quote].

Guarantee the translation commensurate to the service requested, period.

Of course various customers will ask questions regarding the message. Offer consultation for a fee.

But why would someone need to have his bills, forms, etc into French or German? If it's for official purposes, I guess that would mean that you would need certified (by the Swiss administration) translators which might make things complicated...

So that brings in an idea!

A website where people can sell their creations (e.g. your pancakes) online.

Your OP makes it sound like you are looking for a need to satisfy via an online interaction. You didn't ask for the solution. You are the entrepeneuer seeking to make life easier for your customer, for a price. It is your job to make the complicated thing simple. To offer the solution.

It now seems rather you are looking for a proven turn-key business. Are you basically looking to "start-up" a franchise? Here you go:

KFC-FTW

KFC for the win
KFC from the wind
KFC from the wing

Customer orders on line, bucket o' chicken arrives by drone in 20 minutes or less, or your order is late.

--
Everyone wants a to run a mint, a license to print money. If the gist/geist of that does not translate, .., a business that is easy and cheap to run that just makes money. Good luck in your search to find one.
