Importing products into Switzerland to sell

Does any one know how the import business rules in Switzerland?
I would like to import some electrical products from China to Swiss, it has been permited to EU market, I am currently living in UK, how can I start with it?
Do I have to register a company?
Does it restrict on nationailities?
How tax works?
Can I run it as a sole trader which is what I am doing in UK?
How to open a bank account?
The nature of my business is sell based, introduce new products to Swiss and provide service to public through the products.

Many thanks!

Re: import Switzerland

Hello Chloe,

Although the introductions section should *really* be about introductions, I recommend you contact a lawyer to answer your questions. In the end, it'd be wise to have definitive legal advice

Switzerland has its own electricity standard... All products must thus be certified as Swiss electrical compliant before they can be officially sold here. This costs.
You can register a company in Switzerland but you would need to have a Swiss partner ie you could not do it on your own.
Yes nationalities are restricted. I see you are non-EU this makes life more difficult if you want to live here or control the Swiss company.
Tax there is a corporate tax system in place that taxes according to profit generated in Switzerland.
No you cannot run this as a sole trader.
Opening a bank account is relatively straightforward if you are a business or are wanting to open a business. If you are wanting a personal account then you will have some "issues"...

If you want more specific answers ask more specific questions and I will provide them.

Re: Importing products into Switzerland to sell

Simpler would be to find a Swiss distributor for your products and if the products have a market worth the effort, let them do all the approvals and importing.
