Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

is this a joke? Go to paypal and click the button in the middle. There's a flag at the bottom you can click to change location and language.

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

Apologies for my ignorance Sir Connery
I'd say I would like to hear some feedback from EFers on pros and cons; on having a Paypal account ? eg. Is it convenient to withdraw the money and make payments?

Thanks

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

I did it ..... so anyone can.

Can't be more helpful, as I really can't remember - but I'm sure it wasn't too taxing - just a case of typing the required details into the boxes.

The reason I did it, was that eBay only accepts PayPal payments - don't use it for much else.

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

Thanks TiMow for your feedback...They mentioned in the site that it is free to set up a personal account, but are there any hidden cost/charges when it comes to , for example, me transferring money to your paypal account, and you make a withdrawal - would there be any form of charges in between?

Thanks

yes.
if you send a gift, you pay the slice. If you buy something, they pay the slice.

There's no charge for transferring monies to my account and you can do as much as you like as often as you like

I think I've used PayPal for Digitech, too - there was an additional small percentage charge - but that was a Digitech thing and not PayPal - I think it was the same with credit cards, also.

Never done a withdrawal, so can't help, there.

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

I believe when making a with-drawal on Paypal to your Swiss Bank, there is a charge, not sure, should be on their website. No idea how long with-drawal time frame is, sorry.

I am more used to paying money into Paypal. Found it quicker to send from Bank to Paypal. If request done through Paypal to bank, used to take several days, so delayed me ordering items.

A few years back did transfer money from my UK paypal to UK bank and no charge, but I am almost sure there is a charge in Switzerland.

Thanks for your feedback moggy...you mentioned that you were not charged when you transfer some funds from your UK Paypal acc to your UK Bank...if I were to set up the Paypal in Switzerland and transfer to Swiss Local Bank ,they would charge; Does that mean Paypal doesnt have a 'branch' here in Swiss unlike in UK*since you mentioned UK paypal), and therefore there is the charge imposed?

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

As far, as I know, Paypal is charging you, as the account owner for incoming transactions. When you pay online, some shops are adding this fee to they paypal payment option, in order to collect the full amount. So yes - you will be charged when someone buys your product using Paypal. You would need to check how much. There's no money transfer charge. At least not in my case.

Re: How to Set Up a Paypal Account

PayPal is great for online payments, buying stuff, saves giving credit card details to all and sundry, also very quick and easy.Security wise though, make sure password is mega-long, and i recommend using a Yubikey (Yubico.com) for 2-factor authentication
to stay safe.
Also i sent money to the U.S. via email, which i was sceptical about but it worked fast and easy.
