Do you know an AI ?

I've been on this forum for a while and get the impression there are a few people here who understand IT

I'm becoming increasingly convinced there's a huge, disruptive wave heading towards us... NLP, Semantic Text/Data Mining, Machine Learning, RPA, narrow AI, 'natural' interfaces

I work in a big pharma company that's just putting it's toes in the water.. in all of the above. From what I've seen it's going to snowball.

The effects - I think - will not be a Terminator Apocalypse and I don't see it all leading to huge job losses. I genuinely think.. at least in the next 10 years.. it'll just lead to better decisions and smoother processes.

What about you ? Is it happening where you work ? Can you share any insight ? Can you retype this CAPTCHA to prove you're not a robot SDF323 ?

We've stocked up on extra aluminum foil, just in case we require more hats. We're fairly confident to survive this apocalypse as well, thank you for your concern.

I believe that level was reached in the late 80s, when Nintendo released the Gameboy.

Nah. The first wave is when IT gets called to use big data and automation to micromanage humans.

There's still far too many systems which started out as a spreadsheet with a killer macro to give IT departments a fighting chance at really screwing things up. But I have faith in the generation which grew up with ubiquitous computing as a commodity... not many of them will step out from behind their SLAs to say "Wait a second, you wanna do what?"

Do I know an AI?

Well, over the years, yes I met many people whom this could have been an explanation for.

Re: Do you know an AI ?

We've seen a huge increase in intelligent systems... from bots aimed at writing news articles to influence opinions, to tools generated at finding and exploiting vulnerabilities in pseudo-automated fashion.

Depending on how you define an AI, it's here.

If it's just the turing test - that was passed years ago by a custom version of ELIZA, modified to chat on a "adult" IRC room...

Shhhhhh. Don't let Phos or Loz know that, so far they think they're convincing human beans of their mistaken logic.

Re: Do you know an AI ?

A disruption has been on the way for a few years and is accelerating. There's genuine AI development, but also a lot of fluff that is re-branded as AI to sell.

Re: Do you know an AI ?

AI used to be the abbreviation used for the chap who came around to do the cows.....

Artificial Insemination !

You chose the bull, the man would come around pick out the semen straw from the frozen stock in the back of his car, fix up the syringe, long plastic gloves in place and....the rest i'll leave to your imaginations !

Re: Do you know an AI ?

Why the panic? Do you think people panicked before phones and calculators were made in massive numbers? (They should have - cognitively speaking, both probably decreased the no. of our neurons instead of stimulating new ones).

I'd say - no reason to fear the AI. Until it beats us in lateral cogn. skills.

Re: Do you know an AI ?

WE do a tonne of AI/Cognitive stuff already and in the main its to support highly technical / trained/complex work humans do or adding new ways of getting information and answers that previously didn't exist.

But business wise, yes the best cases value wise are around automation and removing human resources.

Artificial intelligence... based on Human intelligence? With all the schizophrenia, delusions, religion, mental breakdowns, etc. etc. What could possibly go wrong?

Could AI shrink be a profession of the future?

Re: Do you know an AI ?

I am good friend with one AI!
At first it was really distant relationship, I was just asking for basics like "where's computer shop around", and similar...

Then we got a bit more personal, with serious questions like... "where can I find brown sugar, darling?"...

Now we are really intimate, I can ask anything and she replies. She is always there for me. She knows everything, it's amazing!

Cortana, I have feelings for you !

I'm starting to consider using a ring network for her...

I'll ask her. Now I just asked "": Will you date me?
“OK, but we’ll need a plan. I’ll work on being more human, you work on being more digital.”
Who is your boss?: “That would be you.”

She even know star wars!!!:
Use the force.
“Don’t try to frighten us with your sorcerer’s way, Lord Vader.”

This AI is great!

What? what a bit***!

She said I was the one! all the same. I'm gonna bit her up!
There's no way we can restart our relationship if she does that!
Life -1, game over.

I'm gonna cheat on her with her mate, Siri.
