Recommendation for accounting tool for a start up and an accountant in Zürich

Hi All

I was hoping to get a recommendation for an accountant in Zürich and accounting sowftware to use for a start-up Einzelfirma (selling stuff in a physical store and online). I am obviously looking to minimize costs If the company should be doing ok by next year, then i may convert it into a GmbH. However, for now I just want to try it out.

I have attended a course at IFJ where they recommended Abacus or Banana. When doing a google search another tool pops up called Freshbooks.

Any recommendation and advice would be most helpful.

Kind regards,

Julie

Just wondering how this worked out.
I'm currently in exactly the same situation and looking for the right bookkeeping software or platform.

I think bexio is a good solution too. They are ideal for small businesses and many swiss accountants are using it. So you can go to an accountant directly.
As a very small startup I would be careful to go with Abacus, because their licensing model can get very expensive as soon as if you need more functionality. Abacus is very good and has huge functionality, but it is more suitable for larger companies.

Based on their website, everyone has a 30 day free trial.

UBS customers have a ongoing 10% savings on any of the program levels (see fine print at bottom of page left).

Keep in mind that pricing is without VAT.

I'm in the same situation as Julie. Seems like many of you are recommending Bexio. Would love to hear from Julie or anyone similar who's looked at various options like Banana, Bexio, etc.

Re: Recommendation for accounting tool for a start up and an accountant in Zürich

I changed from Xero to Bexio last year. Bexio doesn't pull exchange rates automatically but the benefits of being designed for the Swiss system (VAT rates etc), the ability to pull transactions directly from my bank and the number of accountants using it (versus Xero) outweighed the minor hassle of entering exchange rates once a month.

I changed my sister's business to a open source ERP system that was also used to build
https://zerodha.com/ [This is India;s largest discount brokerage, runs $1.5B of trade daily] It is a cloud based solution, with all bells and whistles.
If anyone is interested PM me.
