Last night a jogger with his ears firmly clogged with white earbuds darted straight in front of my bike, without looking and certainly without hearing.
I'd rather keep as many of my senses as possible open when out jogging, or walking around city streets, for that matter.
| | | | | The danger when you've got Twint lined up on your phone is, when you're out running, you can just duck into a cafe for a cake.

I'm using Twint and have linked it to my credit card.
This gives you a fairly low spending limit of something like CHF100 a month.
So buying lunch in the Coop canteen is do-able (less than CHF20 per shot) buying groceries at the coop soon exhausts your 'limit'.
I tried to increase the limit but it would only let me if I linked it to my bank account.
I want the points, so have resisted.

I've tried to use Twint in a few places and I've found that the connectivity isn't great and it has always taken a lot more time to process the transaction than it would have been to find my card in my purse and use that.
It is really good for transferring money to someone when you owe them money because you only need to know their mobile number to transfer the money.

No, it's a secret, star chamberesque cartel that makes all those big decisions.

Nope, pointless for me...too limiting if just for up to CHF40, and in Switzerland only, oh and bluetooth only...I could go on.
I already have contactless and if I need to send individuals money I just use Revolut.

To pay with twint.. (Assuming you have money somehow associated to it) ..
You just put your phone/device near the machine? Or you have to open an app or scan a thing or type something?

I use Twint quite a lot:
- Mainly for shopping on the internet (Digitec, etc.). - I find this more practical than using a credit card, since you can scan the VR code.
- Paying at Coop - I agree that using a contactless credit card is generally quicker. If I could use the Postfinance using NFC (available for Android but sadly not for iPhone) I would probably simply use this as a backup option (i.e. when out jogging...).
- P2P transfers - This actually quite handy.
I see Twint as having some benefit in areas where you would otherwise not be able to pay by credit card. E.g. want to buy some flowers at the side of the road, simply scan the VR code posted by the farmer.

Depending on your settings you may need to swipe to confirm.

I've paid for over 200 CHF in a shop (Coop of course with the extra points!).

I use it very occasionally for the following scenario's
- Out for an evening with a large group: "Just let me pay the bill, give me the receipt and I will work out how much everyone owes in the morning. Then you can just give me the cash or paymit/twint me - I don't care which"
Very convenient and saves the awkwardness while the waiter goes around the table and everyone just sitting there waiting for 20 transactions to be completed.
- I have used it on digitec for the first time ever. Purchase was over 300 CHF and it was so easy.
I wouldn't bother using it at the checkout unless I was really stuck.

I think it might be useful for pre teens/ early teens who dont have bank cards but may be out and need something. Parents can control/monitor spending
Very small market though
