It's an odd one. Like now I just opened TWINT again.. It said my account is closed because I changed phone.. (I didn't).
I clicked to start again as a new user, logged into my bank, set a PIN etc etc.. Successfully set it up again. It looks like it's good to go .. But am sure it'll die again when I try to use it.

If you pay for parking, Twint is a godsend. No more trying to find coins to feed the machine and you can dial the clock face to the exact time you'll be leaving the parking spot!

From what you describe, the install has been corrupted. Try using it, I dig for contacts for you.

| | Re: Are you using Twint?
It's been a year since I started using Twint. At first, I was pretty skeptical about the whole idea. But did give it a try at some point. I do not use it often. If I do, I mostly use it for transferring my share of expenses when hanging out with friends, to shop at grocery stores, and to purchase things from one or two online stores. I must say, it is pretty convenient. On the other hand, I do not use my credit card for it since I fear I may spend uncontrollably | This user would like to thank SbhB for this useful post: | |

| | Re: Are you using Twint?
When I moved here 5 years ago I was told it's a "must have"... since then I have used it exactly 3 times. So it's pointless and "Swiss only".
These days people tend towards Paypal (older audiences), Google Pay, Apple Pay etc (younger audiences).
The times I used Twint was in farm shops but even then I could have used cash or gone without... definitely not a "must have"...

Use TWINT
- Online shopping: no more typing numbers. Scan and done.
- Parking meters: no more coin panic & get money back if leaving early
- Pay at Coop and don't have to bring Supercard
- Linked to credit card, so all the points are still accrued
- Just need the phone, wallet can stay at home
It is not a must have. But I use it very frequently.

A modality to pay via simple sms existed in many European countries ages ago, in some even 20 years ago. I remember paying via good old nokia 6310 sms; no need for fancy schmancy smartphones nor equally schmancy payment apps.

Forgot my Maestro Card recently on paying, the Migros Kassiererin asked me if I have TWINT. And like magic, the basket full of goods was paid within seconds! Thanks to those that recommended I get TWINT.

I use TWINT all the time, but just for small purchases (I'm a bit paranoid and prefer not to give any data on my major expenses to 3rd parties).
The most important change turning me into a regular TWINT's user was that the 24h Milchautomat in the Waidhof (Seebach) started to accept it, so I no longer needed to carry coins to get my milk on the evening runs. Hate carrying coins around, although dearly love to collect some of them (My PRECIOUS!).

With a credit card you give your name, number, expiry date, secret code to the retailer which uses that information to get your money from the card issuer.
With Twint (or ApplePay) you send the transaction code to Twint and say please pay these guys. The retailer gets nothing from you. In my case my Twint is my bank so they already get data on my major expenses.

The online mechanism to scan a QR code, click yes and you're done is really nice - two factor authentication and no typing.

| | Re: Are you using Twint?
I went with Stripe Credit Card (clients have Apple Pay option too) + PayPal for now. 80% of the clients are paying using Stripe CC, 20% PayPal. No one asked for Twint so far. If money keeps coming in then I will add Twint too.
A follow-up question, the newly set up PayPal account needs to be connected with either my bank account or Credit Card (CC is linked & provided by my bank).
Am I right in thinking that it is better to link my PayPal account to my bank's Credit card rather than directly to my bank account? I mean to pull the money out of PayPal.

My iphone was long ago setup with the US store and the twint version of my bank isn't available on the US app store. I can of course change the app store location but then if I understand well I cease to see my current apps or need to switch back to the US store
no twint for me
