Photography freelancing.

Hi Guys,
I'm French citizen living in Zurich, I have a work permit B and a job that allows me to have some extra time, therefore I would like to add some freelancing work.

Basically, I would like to charge people for taking portraits. I won't probably earn more then 5-10.000 CHF/year.

Is there anyone that could tell me exactly what should I do in order to get started? Like if I need to register somewhere, create a company, how much taxes on it should I pay, etc.

Many thanks for your help,
Have a great weekend!

Re: Photography freelancing.

Many thanks Medea,
However, this seems to be for people that would like to be a full-time freelancer. I just wish to make a few extra money on top of my regular job and I wonder if it's an easy thing or if I have to go through starting my company, register, etc.

Anything over 2500 CHF is no longer considered extra pocket money.

Re: Photography freelancing.

So you would say that 2.500 is the limit amount you can earn without having a company or being register as a freelance? I guess you also have to declare it anyway, correct?

Thanks for your help.

You have to declare it in your income tax form

If you do that & it's 2501 CHF or more you will have to pay about 475 in AHV. The tax office needed permission I was authorised by AHV.

More trouble than it's worth if you earned 1900 from a UK company for work done in CH as I did.
