Full time job + Freelance.

Hello,

I've had many good references about this forum and I wanted to ask if you could help me with a few things I read and with which I'm not sure 100%.

I work as an architect in an office here in Zürich since Sept 2016 (full time job). I've always liked to do renderings (textured 3d visualisations) and many offices look for people to them for their projects.

Friends of mine working in oder offices asked me to do some work for them, but my question is if I'm supposed to register an enterprise or similar? I've read that until a certain amount it isn't necessary but I'm not sure. Am I allowed to simply issue invoices of work and then pay additional taxes if needed in an extra early income declaration?

I have a B permit and I pay quellensteuer.

Thank you very much for your help.

Yes, up to a certain limit. These may help:

https://www.ch.ch/en/becoming-self-employed/

https://www.kmu.admin.ch/kmu/en/home...efta-area.html

You may need to check your employment contract to see if there are any restrictions on you working for yourself.

Thanks for your reply. How much would be this amount? And for yes you mean I could create invoices without problems and without registering an enterprise?

There is no problem at all with my office, I already checked with them.

I did go trough some of this webpages but I really get lost with so much text and rules and things. Is there/do you know someone who could assesorate me for my specific case and conditions?

Thanks a lot, and have a nice weekend.

CHF100,000 and then you have to register for VAT. Until then you can just invoice and declare your earnings and expenses on your Swiss tax return.

A freelance can earn 100k CHF without having to open an enterprise? That's quite a lot.

So I can create my own invoices and add them in an extra tax declaration (I pay quellensteuer )at the end of the year and thats it? Nice.

Are there invoice templates online so I can see what info should I give in order for it to be correct? Thanks.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Be sure to get this in writing, dated and signed, and keep this together with your employment contract.

Re: Full time job + Freelance.

Thanks a lot for your fast and useful help.

I'm happy to hear that it's quite easy actually.

I just have one last doubt, do I also need to put a "tax-number" or similar on the invoices? That I know I only have the AHV but this has to do with pensions. What tax-number or id should I give? (If i have to give any).

Thanks a lot.

Hi Tand
Seems I'm having the exact same question here, so your post is very useful.
Did you get any response on the "tax number" yet?

Thanks!
