If you have already managed to start up or are in the process of starting up the single proprietorship company then you should know it ...

It is mainly running costs and additionally 10 litres of Feldschlösschen consumed per annum. Exceptionally, in canton of Appenzell it’s 10 litres of Apenzeller.

Big mistake, especially if you are asking such elementary questions....

A good accountant will save you far more than he costs, you'll have far less headaches from tax people if accounts are presented by an accountant that by yourself.

As for VAT, you'll need to show you have a potential turnover in first 6-12 months of at least Chf 100k or they make you wait until this happens, but a good accountant will tell you this.

Some things you can save money on, but this is not one of them

Why exactly would you want an expat rather than a local who has lived here all his life, done his schooling here, his military service and had a very wide network base compared to an expat who may or may not know something ?

You need a good accountant who knows his way around the tax laws of the canton your company is established in, not somebody to make small talk too

If you are new to Switzerland, rest assured that most of the local reputable accountants will have good command of English and speak at least one of the official languages. They will also “know their turf” to boot.

Basically anything that you can justify was needed in the pursuit of your business. But as Today Only has said, pay an accountant because he will also be able to tell you things that you can claim on that you might not be aware of (percentage of phone costs, use of home as office, mileage use of your car etc etc.)

Re: What purchases are tax deductible? Einzelfirma

A certain /or full/ amount spent on learning an official language /German, French, etc./ is also tax deductible. And I do agree with the rest that you ideally need an accountant for this. Less hassle for you: time vs money. Why spend hours doing something possibly wrong when you can pay a professional 300 chf and be done with it.
