What is it? Do you have a link? ilocal.ch doesn't exist. I can't even find any mention of it on google.

I would think he is talking about local.ch which offers services like a booking platform for restaurants.

Re: Ilocal.ch

I think, the url is wrong. I can access it, looks like an ad farm.

According to nic.ch/whois, it belongs to someone in Georgia (not the US "Georgia on my mind" Georgia, the ex Sovjet one)

local.ch is well known, so it's not a scam.

Whatever it's worth to you, is the other question..

Do you not have a link? I don't see any reference to iLocal on local.ch. I'm still not sure what you would pay 1500 a year for.

They give you a business page to advertise your business so if someone looks for lets say a painter in a certain area you show up for 1500 you get unlimited description 30 pictures and you show up on the first page when they search which helps in a heavily contested market.

I was wondering if someone else had done it and whether or not they had seen a growth in the amount of clients they had

I think I understand, now. Do you mean if I google, for example,
painter Berne

then the results that will come up first are those who have paid local.ch Fr. 1500 p.a.?

I do understand that you're trying to find out whether advertising, specifically this kind of advertising, could be good for your business, but this all sounds rather strange to me.

Now I'd be really interested to know whether anyone here, who might look for a service, would ever do so using the Swiss yellow pages. To do so, one must
I noticed that under "services", there are no painters. In fact, the list of "services" is very limited. Perhaps this is only those who have paid local.ch a fee?

I set it out, here, because I just did a search in this way for the first time, ever, despite having lived in Switzerland for years. Using the Swiss yellow pages would never have occurred to me as the method to search for a painter.

Who is "they"? Why not post a link to the iLocal page so we can give you an opinion? I get it that it's a paid advertising service for the local.ch, but without knowing the details we can't really help.

I will say though, 1500.00 sounds a lot for what you have described.

Don't use the yellow part, but I do use the main local.ch page to search for such things.

If the service offered to the OP is restricted to yellow then maybe not a good idea to subscribe, but if it also would appear in searches on the main page, possibly.

"Best bit" of what?

If you want opinions that will help you take your decision, it would be helpful if you would tell us what it is about.

Re: Ilocal.ch

So far you have given us no clear answers which i take to assume that you dont know much about it yourself. So why you would give 1500chf per year to a bunch of people that did a shitty job of explaining stuff to you, especially if you dont really know what is it for?

Re: Ilocal.ch

It is not unknown for scammers to offer services under names similar to legitimate business. You get some entry at a vastly inflated price in a little heard of online directory, maybe with an N year contract with onerous exit conditions. One trick they have is, at around the time businesses would be expecting bills for their existing directory subscriptions, is to send very similar looking bills in the hope of catching a few additional subscriptions for their own "services".
Maybe iLocal is just such one of these.
