Anything that is purely and obviously needed for your business. And a few other things as well (toilet rolls, some restaurant bills and travel expenses etc), as long as you don't take the P. It's quite common sense really.

And while we're here, do you have a link yet for the iLocal page that wanted feedback on? We're mostly a very helpful lot and we have an awful lot of experience between us to help you, if you help us with the correct info in the first place.

Re: Accountant and tax deductions for sole proprietor

I'd recommend you look into a limited company. massively advantageous compared to a sole proprietor.

Re: Accountant and tax deductions for sole proprietor

Why would a limited company be massively better than a sole proprietorship?

In fact, our fiducaire / comptable is strongly against turning my company into a ltd. since it will only create an additional financial/administrative burden.

Re: Accountant and tax deductions for sole proprietor

don't know. my accountant ran the numbers and the tax rate was hugely different. something like 48% vs 19%. i think it mostly boiled down to income tax vs dividends.
