requirements for home office

i cant seem to find anything on home offices so here goes :

i am setting up an LCC in Vaud requiring a studio space with a small turnaround of staff (3 max) who come in on a project to project basis.
i l would like to cut down on travel time and have this studio/office at my residence.

can a residence be registered as an office ?
are there any specific rules such as separate entrances ?
do i need to get an okay from landlord?

Yes, a residence can be registered as an office and yes, you need the landlord's permission.

no , studio as in design studio..
A studio as I know it from rental ads is a very small flat, mostly used by one person.

What is a design studio? You live in a studio that is as a work area for designers?

A place where designers, architects, photographers, artists and artisans work is often called a ‘studio’.

For architects and designers it’s just an ‘office’.

"A studio is an artist or worker's workroom. This can be for the purpose of acting, architecture, painting, pottery (ceramics), sculpture, origami, woodworking, scrapbooking, photography, graphic design, filmmaking, animation, industrial design, radio or television production broadcasting or the making of music. The term is also used for the workroom of dancers, often specified to dance studio.

The word studio is derived from the Italian: studio, from Latin: studium, from studere, meaning to study or zeal"

Re: requirements for home office

Thanks for the clarification. What confused me is that OP lives there as well.

Me too. OP specifically says the office/studio is also to be used as a residence, so that brought to mind a studio apartment (no bedrooms).

Re: requirements for home office

thank you all for the clarification and apologies for not being clear. so yes, i want to setup a small design studio at a place of residence being offered , ie , a duplex which is big enough to accommodate both work and home and is outside heavily populated residential area. There are no rules and regulations that i could find but i want to have a clearer picture before approaching the authorities (in my bad french) or for that matter, committing to high rent.

Re: requirements for home office

to those in question :
yes you can register your residence as an office with no issue,
with regards to taxes, you need to prove that a room or space is allocated solely for the purpose of business, including a separate phone , internet , etc.
if you have a turnaround of staff, the issue lies with the landlord and residents around you , ie : a grey area.

Re: requirements for home office

If it's an office where you have an assistant / pa etc to help you it's not an issue. If you have an office where you're running a business with people coming and going it may cause a problem, especially if you're all working late hours.

I'd suggest a word with the landlord, explaining the business and how busy it may or may not become. Otherwise nothing to stop you having your home as your registered office. However, if you're using a local accountant to do payroll, social contributions, tax declarations etc, they may agree to let you use their office address for a nominal fee, or maybe nothing at all. This could be more convenient for you.
