Shipping bicycle(s) from UK to Switzerland -- Manchester area

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if someone can recommend or if anyone knows a company or some individuals transporting goods from/to the UK.

The goods in questions are one or two small bicycles (if you want to have an idea, each bike aorund 20kilos and roughly measuring 160x70x150).

Thanks in advance,

best regards

I have a small courier business based in Manchester. Using any of the standard couriers it's going to be expensive due to the volumetric weight. We normally suggest to people that they get hold of a bicycle box ( the kind they come in when new ), a bike shop will usually give you one for free if you ask nicely. Front wheel and pedals are removed. Then calculate price based upon box dimensions and weight.

Shiply might offer a solution if you're lucky.

Re: Shipping bicycle(s) from UK to Switzerland -- Manchester area

I recently (last year) shipped a car exhaust from UK to NL using d4p.co.uk and it was ridiculously cheap (about 16) If you want stuff to go to Switzerland then that usually adds significantly to the cost.

As someone else wrote, you most likely need a bike box, or at least some kind of box!

That should have been d4p.co.uk . Forum won't let me edit.

Is Shiply reliable? I have received some quotes but they all look very shady...I asked for a website (or something more official looking than a chat over the internet) and I am told to accept the quote first, which means paying 20% of deposit.
