| | business start up resources
Il soon be wanting to start thinking about a business with my family and was just wondering if there's any major things I should read to get prepared. I wont be the main person (father is) but I want to help where I can. I'm already planning to go back to education for finances. Are there any good articles people could suggest I research to help me get more context in business?

Hi, and welcome to the Forum.
As I'm sure you'll realised, you're not the first person in Switzerland to start out learning about how to run a business. Many people keep their risks low by reading up, as you now want to do. So well done for staring out on your research. There are quite a lot of threads on this forum about this. If you scroll right down to the end of the page, you will see recommendations of what the software "thinks" might be related topics. Perhaps you could start with working your way through those threads.

There is a lot of information on https://www.gruenden.ch/
If you don't read German there is also some information in English on that side. But if you don't read German make sure someone in the family does. It will make your life much easier if you want to run a business in the German part of the country.

Here's another thread started by someone who was considering starting a small business selling pancakes. Even if this is not the type of business you'd be wanting, that thread contains quite a lot of good discussion, and some links to other threads and sites: https://www.englishforum.ch/business...-pancakes.html |

Someone in the business must be able to deal with not only the customers, but the rental agent, licencing departments, the tax office, the AHV office, the accident insurance and the health inspectors, etc. A good command of the local language will open up ways to keep your running costs lower. If you and family don't already have this, it's probably one of the most important parts of good preparation, before you start up.
