| | Looking for Online Photo Printing and E commerce
I had a successful photography business back in the U.S. by using SmugMug to manage all aspects of photo printing and management of my online e commerce. My customers loved the quality, always received their orders quickly and rarely had complaints. If they did, SmugMug took care of their inquiries so I did not have to. I could set my prices, thus markup, and always got paid on regular intervals. I am looking for something similar here since I cannot use them for international orders from here in Basel. The shipping and import taxes would be crazy plus timely turn arounds would be impossible.
Has anyone run across or know any companies here and/or in Germany that be able to suit my needs?

I'd be interested to know if there are any online fine-art printers that are available like there are in the US and if anyone has any experience with them. I don't tend to print a lot but when I do I want the best quality possible. I've used services in the US before but think it might be prohibitive to keep using them (though I admit not having checked into this much).

I was thinking more along the lines of 16x20 prints on archival rag paper. |

i'm not sure if it is really what you are looking for but i sell handmade things on etsy.com. payment is easy through paypal and they have artists seling their wares as well. excuse me if it is completely not what you are looking for, but i figured it would be worth a try for you anyway! good luck! |

BTW Colormailer does "fineart" prints, but I've never tried them and have no idea about their quality. Papers include:
Ilford Professional Instant Dry Pearl RC Paper 290g/m2
Ilford Professional Instant Dry Glossy Paper 290g/m2
Euromedia Canvas 340g/m2
Hahnemühle German Etching 310g/m2
Torchon by Hahnemühle 285g/m2
Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta 325g/m2
Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308g/m2
Hahnemühle Goya Canvas 340g/m2 [COLOR=#000000 ! important] xLDde>en GoogleDicC

If I can reply to my own post. I ended up going with Zenfolio. They are not as slick and customizable as SmugMug or Photoshelter but they can handle shipping ANYWHERE. I can sell downloadable pics here in Euros or CHF. I can sell prints in Euros and shipping is reasonable.

Being international, I've always had the issue of not being able to take advantage of their photo sales option, but I always had a great pro lap nearby. Now however, I do not. So I've been looking for an online option and not having a lot of luck. There are plenty of options, but either the sites are too cumbersome or the prints are not high enough quality.
So, Zenfolio, heh? Would you mind putting a link up to your site so I can see how you've set it up. I haven't looked at them in years, but remember the setup options being very limited...

Hey,
its been nearly a year since this thread opened, I was just wondering if anyone had gone any further with this. I have just set up SmugMug but not yet paid for them, I can see they now ship international and the options with them look amazing! But it is gonna take time to come from the US and customers have to pay the shipping costs...not really something they should have to deal with!
Anyone found somewhere as good to use this side of the Atlantic?

Personally, I recommend CanvasTouch.com One of the easiest printing service to used. all canvas photo prints are made to be in a high quality.

I use these for my personal piccies: http://www.pixum.ch/
They print and deliver quite a few places, offer online (also password-protected) galleries, and produce a lot of different formats, e.g. : http://www.pixum.ch/poster-leinwand.html#preise
I particularly like the FTP service. You can upload 100s of photos automatically from a hard drive without having to upload one by one.
They've always delivered quickly and on Kodak paper.
Cheers
Harry
