Book keeping software in English for Sole Trader in CH

Hi all, I'm sending this out in desperation.

I am looking for a basic booking software package which is in English for Swiss accounting/tax purposes. I have tried Sage 30 which is supposed to be in English but half of it is actually in French.

Having not worked for 8 months I'm low on funds so am trying to do my book keeping myself - I refuse to pay the CHF8K quoted to do this task. I'm an English woman who's set up as a sole trader in Switzerland.

Can anyone help me?

Cheers, Julia

Have you tried to get other quotes?
8K looks high unless you have a complex business or handle a lot of paperwork?

Hi Julia, I am not an accountant.
Would Banana Accounting Software solve your purpose? I have heard that it is meant for Private/Small Swiss companies, they say it is multilingual but perhaps you could try the free trial and then buy it.

I will send you details of our accountant. He speaks English. He does everything for you and also helps with guidance...
It might be easier for you..

I'll PM you later as I don't have details right now at hands.

Hi

I have to say there are a lot of free open source tools available for such purposes on the internet.

You could try out these links to get some more ideas:

http://www.newfreedownloads.com/find/bookkeeping.html
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=20824
http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/forums/in...7309&forumid=2

If you are good in accounting, i honestly feel that it will be enough if you download one of these options and maintain yourselves..

Good luck.
Velan

Yes, Banana is a Swiss bookkeeping package and has documentation and screen options in several languages, including English.

I am actually looking for someone to do a couple of hours a week bookkeeping from home using own computer, so if you are interested, just get in touch.

Hi Julia,

I use a program called businessware ( just google it for more info ), the program is in English ( from the UK ) and doesn't cost the world.

Its a good accounting and database program that adapts to any country as you can set the vat and import duties by code.

Its easy to use and has a very good aftercare service.

If you need more info, Pm me and ill help you out.

Keep counting ,

Joey
