You might want to look at a US school then transfer to CH.

Re: watch making schools??

On this website there is a list with watch-making schools (only available in French).

I don't know how they deal with English-speaking students, as the school language will be French or German, but try to contact them.

Re: watch making schools??

To go to a Swiss school you'll have to speak French (or German). The exception is WOSTEP in Neuchatel, however their full program is only available to students from countries without schools. The U.S. has several WOSTEP affiliated schools, so they would refuse you.

You can attend other courses at WOSTEP after completing watchmaking school or proving your ability through a bench test (you pay for travel and room while here for the test).

It wouldn't be impossible to go here, I know a Japanese man who went through the school in the Vallee de Joux, but he did have a good grasp of French before going. Supposing the language barrier is covered, permit issues for Japanese and Americans seems about the same (i.e. a pain compared to EU citizens).

Hmm,

You could try writing to these people and asking them for suggestions/help?
