Do you have experience with agencies that offer services to "employ" people?

Does anyone have any experience/advice regarding agencies that offer services that “employ” people rather than having people need to set up their own business?

I'm looking to make it super simple for a US-based company to hire me to work in Geneva to cover Europe. The company has no European offices so I thought rather than setting up a company, perhaps there are agencies who offer these services. This seems like it might be easiest for the US-based company to do … to simply pay them a fee to have me officially work for the agency. But, of course, their fees in the long run might be cost prohibitive.

Thanks in advance if you have had good/bad experiences with such agencies (if they do in fact exist)!

Oh yes. they exist.

They charge ca. 7-8% of your agreed rate.

Apparently they need to do a lot more work than a UK umbrella company, since they cost so much more.
The Agency I used last year was very helpful, and even came to my workplace to get the paperwork done, and they were my primary source of Information before I heard of EF

Doc.

I can recommend Tresag, they have offices in Zurich, Zug and UK. If you negotiate a fixed rate per month.. will be in the region of 600-700CHF per month. They are quite good

Re: Do you have experience with agencies that offer services to "employ" people?

I have just called Adecco and asked then if they provide the service of employing people in Switzerland for foreign companies.

They informed me that they do not provide this service.

Does anyone know of a company which will definitely employ me (I have a B permit, but am non EU) an are willing to receive payment from a non-Swiss source?

I think in this situation you can register as self employed and just invoice the US company yourself, you don't need to have several separate customers as the money comes from abroad. Book keeping should be pretty simple too, and you can always have a fiduciaire to help you in the beginning.

Hi there,

There is a list of 6-7 I have spoken to.

I decided to go with Access Financial. Though I heard Tresag and Accurity are also well woth looking at.

Cheers

Re: Do you have experience with agencies that offer services to "employ" people?

I have been talking with Tresag and it seems their terms are fair and convenient.

I've been considering the einzelfirma option, but wonder if anyone could answer two questions:

1. As an einzelfirma, am I required to charge any VAT to Swiss or non-Swiss clients.

2. If I have established no Swiss clients within a year, is that an issue for the Swiss authorities?

Thank you!

I can tell you that Tresag are honest and trustworthy people. I have used them in the past. They are mainly British based with few people in Zurich
