It would have been easy with the train...
Raise a Rappi bier to Begga for me, please. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | I'm sorry. It seems a long way to go. From Geneva, to Zurich. The others seemed to have decided not to come.

Gata - work
Me - Sorry, it just seems a long way to go. I shall do it, but perhaps in happier times. But, as always, my thoughts are with you all. Have a great party for her. | | | | | He never said he was going, so why post this
Hope all are enjoying the event, sorry i could not come.

Back from Rapperswil. A very lovely event, lovely cheese, lovely Grumpygrapefruit, lovely brewery owner, lovely resident and lots of lovely beer.
The next door music might have been a tad too loud but otherwise the event was a class act. Begga was honored and remembered but in a way one could still have fun without feeling guilty. She would have liked that.
Thanks to all the organisers!

We've just got back. Once again, we had a rather enjoyable afternoon. As ever the cheese and beer were delightful. Unfortunately we managed to miss the brewery tours, but if they run them next time, we'll try and partake! I quite enjoyed the band as well.
I didn't remember to contribute to the Begga fund, I didn't know her, but the pictures on the laptop on the bar really reminded me that life can be cruel. I will now endeavour to find the thread with the account details and make a contribution that way instead.

Just wanted to say thank you for a lovely day. Everyone had their fill of the delicious cheeses, something I didn't think was achievable for DH as there's usually room for another slice with him. DD loved the music (we were dancing away by swings) and now finally I will get to enjoy the beer with our carry out. Must remember to come by train next time. Thanks again
I didn't know Begga, but I think the way her life was celebrated today was very touching.

Apparently the Rappi wasps have a taste for pinkish-white gals from the US, or at least this one... Sorry for the shriek to those whose ears may have been assaulted!
Top cheese, of course, great to see Mike again and some of the Basel folks, also of course, also good to see i-b-deb again AND place some faces on names I've known. Kittster, Nanda and Argus made me feel right at home. ♥ Hopefully next time I'll make a few more face / name placements, I can only handle a few "new" at a time these days.
Many thanks to Mike, cmirsky and RitaLynn, JLF and ClareJane for their hard work. The band was pretty great (also a bit loud from where I was sitting but I'm not sooo old yet to fail to appreciate loud music upon occasion). I haven't a clue who the cutie was picking up empty glasses for us, there was much speculation whether or not he is a member of EF.
Alas, the day was short but it was a bit warm, we were melting so made off probably a bit before some others made it in. Hopefully to catch them next time, somewhere.
I kinda think the wasp was someone giving me a message or two... 1. I shoulda come sooner (sorry my friend, I promise next life to follow your lead a bit more) and 2. I shouldn't use coconut scented soap in the summer time, as much as I love it.

The pictures are all of Angela's. You're lucky you didn't see mine (sorry forgot to take pics of 'em) - or I'd have twisted your arm to say what they looked like. I have a little figurine of a Viking warrior which I got from Denmark umpteen years ago and basically tried to follow its design (being too late to take up Crumbs' kind offer) - to hilarious results. (Thank dog they tasted better than they looked, haha.)
P.S. Great to have seen some 'old' faces again and met a few new ones. | The following 5 users would like to thank for this useful post:

Sorry for the shriek to those whose ears may have been assaulted! | | | | | A-ha.....I think I was a victim of one of your shriek's...;-) We had a brief convo re. the wasp situation when I asked if you wanted to sit down at our table. We were sat near the door, myself, hubby and two kids.
I/we can only re-iterate what has been said before. We had a lovely day and I literally stuffed myself with the lovely lunch and a couple of glasses of prosecco, so rolled home afterwards! Bought some of the delicious chutney so looking forward to devouring that some time.
Had a nice wee chat with Kittster who was telling me about Becca, such a tragic end to a young life and really lovely to see the forum paying tribute to her today in the way they did. I thought the band was great, a wee bit loud at the beginning nevertheless, really, really good. The girl singing had a cracking voice. A nice touch also was the wee cakes that the kiddies were giving out.
Has it ever been suggested that member's wear a name badge at EF events, if they so chose? Personally I would love it if folk did that as it would make it easier for members to identify one another, n'est pas? Maybe it's just my curious nature, but I found myself looking around the crowd today trying to figure out who is who, which in the absence of an introduction is pretty much a futile excercise....
Thanks anyway to the organiser's for a great day - we really enjoyed it and hope to take part in another EF event soon.

Aw, Argus, too bad there aren't photos of your cookies. Angela's look perfect but yours were adorable. Both were quite tasty though!
Fortunate / unfortunate circumstances came up so I didn't bring any promised sweets myself. I found myself without time to bake (and am equally gratified and humbled for the reason) and this morning was a bit of "comedy of errors" to some extent... a VERY bad egg wound up going into the pan when trying to make breakfast for hubby. I didn't even want to touch any eggs after that and the cleanup took long enough I couldn't bake this morning either. (I know, I know, whine, excuse, whine, excuse... thanks for sharing treats, hopefully I'll get the chance to share mine another time... I'd had some really great key lime cookies in mind) | The following 2 users would like to thank Peg A for this useful post:
