‎**Arthur's "I'm a Funny Launderer" lapel button is in evidence throughout this BBC video of his national radio show**
ARTHUR SMITH has become one of comedy's elder statesmen: an Edinburgh Fringe stalwart and a club compere since the early days of the alternative scene, he still uses many of the same gags today. He's also become a regular on Radios 2 and 4, one of TV's Grumpy Old Men, and a writer whose best-known work is the World Cup play An Evening With Gary Lineker and his own bestselling 2009 autobiography "My Name Is Daphne Fairfax". Arthur was one of the very first UK comics to headline a show in Switzerland in 2006 and has since reluctantly been burdened with the very dishonourable title of Official Ambassador for International Funny Laundering with which he his entirely underwhelmed. This will be his fourth visit to perform in Switzerland.
THE PROVOCATEERS ~ Steve Bowditch and Paul The Poet ~ host a revolutionary, back-to-basics Open Mic night in South East London's comedy heartland of Greenwich called "The Friday Mic" which, spookily enough, is on a Friday night. Steve was one of the original comics and protagonists at the the birth of 'alternative' comedy in the early 1980's, an original member of comedy legend Malcolm Hardee's infamous "Greatest Show On Legs" and their world famous Balloon Dance and is a regular support to Harry Hill on his tours and Paul the Poet is a member of 'we should get a boat', compere of friday mic @ the star & garter, poet & author of "the daily provocateer". His word-smithery is honed on a daily basis at the Acadmey of The Royal Albert in Deptford. Except on Fridays of course.

There's always an Abendkasse with a few, but seating places are unreserved so if you want to sit with a companion it's wise to get there early

Arthur's stand up royalty.

Arthur Smith was brill, very entertaining, and hats off to the woman who walked behind him twice, that takes a lot of guts. As for the Provacateers not really my thing. Once again thanks to Guy.

Re: Stand Up Comedy in Zurich - Arthur Smith + The Provocateers

He was great. I was endeared from the beginning though as I had been listening to Leonard Cohen all afternoon.

My only problem though was that there were a lot of English culture and TV references that went over my head.

But the dad jokes were awesome. As for the naked chick just cruising along, well, random, and from my front row seat even more so. (I thought you were going to say that it takes balls Annie, and from my prime position I can confirm that she was sans).

Missed the first half, so cannot comment on that, but glad I made it for the second.

Definitely looking forward to Stephen Amos, saw him many a time at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
