Re: Do you have a UK pension?

I am sorry, I do not understand where there is a problem. If you live here you do not pay UK tax. My UK pension is paid into my Swiss post finance account every 4 weeks free of tax. I declare it and pay Swiss tax on it.

Re: Do you have a UK pension?

@Ittigen No problem. We are referring to UK private or company pension schemes which will be liable for UK taxation.

So we are not advising with respect to the UK state pension for which, as you are seemingly aware, there are tax agreements in place with most European countries. As an expat you are generally allowed to transfer your UK (private) pensions offshore to avoid paying tax on the pension income and losing up to 55% of your pension in the event of your death.

Here you find more explanations about UK pensions tax
If you have any more questions just let us know.

Re: Do you have a UK pension?

This was a really informative talk. So pleased I went. No high pressure sales. I registered just before going in. I wasn't asked for my address or phone. Very open, Lots of good background information.

Basically it was organised by a tax and pensions advice company that invited 2 suppliers they work with to give their perspective on the subject.

Nearer to Zurich?

Lordy, I know you Zuricher types like to think that the world ends at the city limits, but I'd hardly call Zug far away from Zurich... For it to be "nearer" it would practically have to be in Zurich

I live in the Zuri Oberland and to get to Zug by public transport takes between 1 hour 22 minutes with 1 bus and 3 trains or 1 hour 47 minutes with 1 bus and 1 train. Then there is the return journey. So, with potential travelling time of over 3½ hours I don't think my question was unreasonable...
