Basic pet course in english (zÜrich)

We found someone in zürich who can give a 4-hour course required for first time pet owners in Switzerland. The fee is around 200chf if i go alone but if i go with 2 other people or more, it will be 140chf for each.

Message me if you are interested. We can discuss the specific date when there´s three of us but could be more. My husband was the one who contacted the person and i would still ask him about other details like address, the name of the vet etc. later.

Will edit when i get the info.

At the risk of sounding flippant, what the heck is a "Pet Course"? Does this teach you the correct, Swiss approved method of stroking your err, pet or what?

I'm curious as to what the course entails....
Cheers

"Pet course" is my fault, i dont know what else to call it. Its just basic info on responsibly owning a pet in compliance to swiss laws.

I Guess it should be "pet care course".

Thanks, I guessed it was probably something like that - it amazes me though they can charge so much money for it.

Re: Basic pet course in english (zÜrich)

Im sure it would be slightly cheaper if i dont need it in english. Was hoping to find a course offered somewhere nearby. My husband was on the phone all morning but was led to this one person from Zürich.

Louis, the course will equip you with basic knowledge of dog ownership if you are a first time owner or considering getting one. Stuff like how to care for your dog, its needs, possible situations that you and your new canine friend might get into and ettiquete on how to deal with them.

The main aim is to make people evaluate their decision on owning a dog and to prepare them on the big responsibility of owning one, rather than on a whim. More countries should adopt these laws in my opinion - stepping off my soap box now...

Re: Basic pet course in english (zÜrich)

Seeing as how this thread has been resurrected...

... For anyone searching for trainers qualified to offer the mandatory SKN (Sachkundenachweis) courses, here is the database of SKN trainers, from the BVet website:

http://bvet.bytix.com/plus/trainer/

Plug in your PLZ, you will be given a list of certified trainers authorized to offer the SKN in your area.

If you need the course in English, just contact the trainers and ask if English is a possibility.

But don't despair if you can't find a course offered in English - if you have even a little bit of German/French you can probably get along.
