Don't forget it's going to be hot tomorrow with not much shade. So maybe wear a hat.
and drink plenty of fluids.
When I was in Crete I saw a tourist with a hand held electric fan which had a water bottle attached to it so it blows a cool mist onto your face. Has anyone seen them for sale in Zurich like these? |

Getting excited now.
If I'm not dancing naked on a police car by 2pm, I'm considering the day a failure.

| | Re: Zurich Street Parade 2011 | Quote: | | | | | Thanks for the responses. I thought about going to see David Guetta, but I'm not so sure that I want to be out at the Hallenstadion. It's not such an ideal location to hop to the next party. I also usually end up somewhere in the Langstrasse area. Hopefully, I can find someplace to inspire me to "go hard (as in party)" rather than go home. | | | | | Just heard David Guetta is on at Hallenstadion from 23.15 to 1.15 . I'll be there back stage as my brothers are part of his show. Lucky me !
Unfortunatley I agree about hallenstadion, it was a bit of a pain getting there and back last year infact manic in the rain, especially after an afternoon of Street parade fun , frolics and drinking!
I'll be there to see Boy George at the start of the parade , probably wont get further then Bellevue. Can't wait !
Enjoy everyone ! |

| | Re: Zurich Street Parade 2011 | Quote: | | | | | Right - I've been debating whether to put this in the Street Parade thread or the Non-Street Parade thread - but figured parade goers are more likely to have the answer.
Street Parade is absolutely totally not my thing - but I really really really want a funnel cake.
What would you reckon are my chances of making it down to Burkliplatz and back without being squashed alive, (more than temporarily) deafened, having my hair filled with confetti (wait, that's Fasnacht isn't it?) or being otherwise interfered with?
What's the best direction/time of day to try it?
Any suggestions are welcome. | | | | | I would personally go early and through Bahnhofstrasse if I wanted to go to Bürkliplatz and avoid the crowds as much as possible.

They are serving till midnight. It's down at Burkliplatz, right opposite the tram stop ("opposite" on the side towards the lake, not on the 'platz' itself.)

Anyone wanna join me at Dynamo for the goth/industrial party? I'll be there — just look for the short guy with no hair and big stretched ears.

Thanks all for the advice. | | | | | I had to look up what funnel cake is. It seems that it is very similar to the deep-fried donuts that we get along the seafront here in Hastings |

I only stopped by the viadukt as an afterthought. (Glad I did of course.)

How was the party? What kind of music was it? Prodigy, Chemical Bros etc?
I saw some great costumes yesterday but the saddest ones were people with Nirvana, AC/DC and Beatles tee shirts. Looked like they'd missed the point. Sorry.
Was so hot yesterday I went to the loo in the Metroploe and soaked my tee shirt under the tap in the toilets to keep cool.

| | Re: Zurich Street Parade 2011 - Shocked to see
I was shocked to see, in a Clean city like Zurich, people were peeing "Littering" openly on Roads and walls of the the street. mostly on the shopping centers and Stadt office near bruilkiplatz.... Hufff
Every were flowing urine and broken bottels of beer. It was stinking like hell.
I guess the WC's arranged were not enough. I wish the organizer arrange WC's every 100 mts to the public cab use then and stop littering on the roads.
This morning when i was heading to my office for a issue. Beleive me the roads and the trams were just stinking.
I think the City needs a heavy rain to wash of all the dirt....
Street parade was colorful, but still made the city so dirty....

| | Re: Zurich Street Parade 2011 - Shocked to see
swath, this was the first thing that struck me when going to street parade. its been about 8 years since the last visit, and it was not this bad. I think the numbers were up significantly this year, and people peeing off the bridge, kicking rubbish into the pristine lake (never to be retrieved) is what annoyed me the most.
With these types of numbers there is not much that can be done to control it, but with all big events the corruption eventually sets in and things go bad. Maybe this is whats happening to street parade too over time.

After looking at pages of SP photos I was beginning to think I was glad I missed it yesterday, then I came across one or two that made me think again. And when I say "came across" I mean... err... found. Yeah. That's what I mean.
