Event Type: Other
Location: Markthalle, Limmatsrasse 231
Price: Free entry

Come and help us celebrate the 1st birthday of the Markthalle Im Viadukt on Friday 2nd September!

Details are still a bit sketchy but I can say that there will be lots of good food, including some free tasters and live music. The market won't look quite as normal as some islands will be partially taken down ready for some major changes on the Monday...... more details on that later.

I've put a start time as 18.00 but I'm sure we will be kicking off earlier.

As the program shows, some of shops in the arches will also be hosting events during the evening. See you there!

Sorry to have missed many of you last night, I only saw MathNut but not DB..also missed seeingbee and quite a few others Grumpy's stall was heaving and we spent the better part of the night nearer the bar. Glad to have snag myself some cheese before grumpy sold out.

This old lady was overwhelmed by the crowd and left around 11ish but everywhere was still so crowded!

Viaduct definitely knows how to throw a party!

Thanks for that, makes me revise my original impression: we were close to the live music, and when they suddenly stopped playing at 11:00 p.m. (sharp!!!! I kid you not...) I felt as though the air'd been let out of the balloon, spoiling the lovely summer-evening atmosphere. But in hindsight you're right of course--people stayed on, mingling, chatting and drinking.

...what a fine atmosphere Zurich can conjure up when it's given permission to have fun. Strangers talking and laughing together and no sign of any trouble, despite stalls and stores being wide open during a party. I'm not sure it would have passed off so happily in London, for example.
That the evening passed without a hitch is a credit to the stall- and shop-owners. Thank you Grumps and Pie Ladies...also, it's no skin off my nose to say I missed Weejeem and his missus

Re: Viadukt 1st Birthday celebration party.

It was a lovely evening. I have not seen SO many people in Zurich for a long time (too used to London). Hats off to Grumpy and pie lady as well as the others. The grub is superb and the beer as well.

Also nice to see so many new faces that I not met before! See you all at some other events soon!

Thanks! I don't mind admitting I had mixed feelings prior to the party but I was pleasantly surprised at how many people turned up.... it was almost like the opening day. I hardly drank anything last night but by 11 I was seriously tired and even becoming slightly "grumpy" which is far from my usual state, so apologies if you were on the receiving end!

The party is continuing in a slightly pleasant hung-over mode.... I've just had a pre-lunch snifter of a chilled Rosé port. I think a pie beckons now

Re: Viadukt 1st Birthday celebration party.

I had a wonderful time last night. Lovely to catch up with familiar faces and meet new people. Thanks, GG, for bringing the Prosecco - and for it being just the one bottle, so I didn't get too smashed .

Oh, and the oysters and cheese were fab too.
