Theatre in English in Zurich - September 6 - 16 2011

The Zurich Comedy Club
Home of English-speaking theatre in Zurich since 1954
Presents:
"A Semblance of Wholeness"
Two one-act plays at the Theater STOK
Hirschengraben 42, 8011 Zurich
(click for map)

9 performances from September 6, 2011 to September 16, 2011 as follows:

Tue 6, Wed 7, Thu 8, Fri 9, Tue 13, Wed 14, Thu 15, Fri 16, September 2011 at 19.30
Saturday 10 September at 17.00 plus IMPROVables* at 20.00

First play:
“Semblance of Madness” a drama by John H. Newmeir
A powerful and challenging drama set in the ward of a psychiatric hospital. Three women meet for a therapeutic drama session and each claims that she is a mental health professional and that the other two are patients.
How much of this unpredictable and sinister behaviour is a manifestation of mental illness and how much is acting?
Are we really witnessing madness or merely a Semblance of Madness ?

Interval

Second play:
“The Whole Shebang” a comedy by Rich Orloff.
A light-hearted look at the origins of man and the human predicament that asks the question, “What if the entire universe was just some nerd's science project?” In a dimension far beyond ours, a student striving for a “Master of the Universe” degree gives a presentation on an unusual thesis – the creation of the heavens and the earth.
Although a comedy, The Whole Shebang shows us that despite all of our flaws, there is really something special about each of us.

Both plays are performed in English. More details at http://www.zcc.ch/stok2011.html

Downloadable electronic flyer in PDF format (1.24Mb) at
http://www.zcc.ch/stok2011/eflyer-stok-2011.pdf

*Bonus show:
on Saturday, September 10, there will be an additional free bonus show lasting 30 minutes by our theatre improvisation group, the IMPROVables. This will take place after the two one-act plays, and is open to all those holding tickets for the regular Saturday September 10 show.

Staged in the intimate surroundings of the Theater STOK between the top of the Niederdorf and the University – makes it an ideal venue for an evening out with numerous restaurants nearby for dinner before or after the show.

Tickets in advance at CHF28.- (additional charges apply as detailed here) now on sale via Ticketcorner.com and affiliates.

A limited number of tickets should be available at the theatre box office on the nights of performance only - subject to availablity. The box office opens 1 hour before the start of each performance.

Anyone fancy joining me at the Saturday night show? Could be a laff, and maybe we'll get a gander at the elusive Ms Abfab.

Re: Theatre in English in Zurich - September 6 - 16 2011

'Twas a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Theater Stok yesterday.
The plays were very entertaining and the bonus show "The Improvables" was indeed that - a bonus

I'll definitely be going to see these guys and gals again.

Thanks for posting it on here - and, were you really there, AbFab? What colour shirt were you wearing?
