| | Re: Lac Lemaners. I'm coming down with lots of cheese and will fancy a beer!
Thanks so much everyone for making me feel so welcome, Saturday especially was just wonderful, beautiful town, stunning location by the lake and very friendly locals, including the Policeman who welcomed me at 6.30... "Bonjour Monsieur le fromage!" he called out as I arrived and later when he came round for the rent and I reminded him I had to pay for a one day alcohol license (about 150.00 chufs we were told) he glanced at my bottles of ale and cider, gave me a wink and said "ahhh, c'est bon!".
Sorry I ran out of bagels at about 3, next year I will bring more and a second grill and will be scrounging a volunteer helper from amongst you to help toast them during the lunch rush, I really couldn't cope with the demand on my own but was happy that they were well received.
The event is very well organised by British couple Kieth and Mary and even if old motors are not your thing, it's just such a nice atmosphere. If anyone has any photos, please post them!
I was completely pooped by the evening and had trouble finding my hotel in Geneva but still found the energy to take a bus into town for drinks with Gata, Magic and Russkov and a few others who I can't remember the handles of. Glad I did, great pub and the cheese I brought with me seemed to go down well.
The next day at the Expat-Expo I was struggling with the long hours, so sorry if I didn't seem as chirpy... I also had a stressful 15 minute interview on WRS radio at 2pm to look forward to... it's coming out on Thursday and I'll post a link if I don't come across as a comlete dork. | Quote: | | | | | Yummy cider! And the cheddar bagel was amazing - lucky me got the second last one!
Great to meet y`all and I enjoyed chatting with you (didn`t meet Grynch though ). And what a cool action from two surprise guests from the Suisse Alemanique - coming all the way to Vaud. | | | | | That was a great surprise for me too, DB had just a day or so before sent me a text wishing me a good weekend and apologising for not being able to attend.
And guys, Zymogen is even nicer in real life than her "hot" avatar might suggest . | Quote: | | | | | Thanks Grumpygrapefruit, We're eyeing off the pot of stilton and mentally preparing a postal order! Next time I'm bringing my own (gluten free) bread! Smelling Zymogens bagel was torture A couple of the Stitch 'n' Bitch ladies said they made their way to your stall and some have friends who are interested but couldn't come today. I'll keep an eye on your events and let all know (via the newsletter) when you're returning so they can arrange to visit you
It was lovely to put some faces to names here. Sorry we didn't stick around for so long, husband is a car nut and keeping him sitting there was akin to letting a kid into a candy shop and not letting them have any! | | | | | There was a few lasses early on who said my friend Nic/Nick had said they should pop by. I just smiled, wondering secretly which Nic/Nick they might be referring to, so thanks!
I'm in Lausanne again on Friday 21st October in the evening at the English church, then the next day at Moevenpick wine shop in Geneva all day. I'll probably stay in Lausanne overnight so if anyone fancies a beer and pizza afterwards, start planning a night for me. I'll post another event later in the week. | Quote: | | | | | Ah, it was a late nite for the little one but worth it! Met some old faces and some new ones, kiddo had a blast with another EF princess, that rabbit definitely needs a wash..Sorry I wasn't exactly mingling, busy sampling and keeping away cheese from the little teeth, Mike was great as ever, the flags are hanging all over the kid's bedroom, see ya'll tomorrow. | | | | | Your little one is so sweet and was having such a great time with the newbies little one, even though they did their best to delay my exit by slowing down my packing up. | Quote: | | | | | An open letter to GrumpyGrapefruit
Dear Mr. Grapefruit,
First of all .. thank you so much for your delicious cheese and beer that Mrs. G and I purchased at your lovely little emporium lakeside, and which formed the basis for a loverly plowmans lunch yesterday. Secondly, I am rather curious that upon seeing Mrs.G round the corner of said emporium you let out an exuberant I know you ! despite only having ( allegedly ) met Mrs.G once before for mere minutes at the previous years Expat-Expo.
I want you to be aware that I will be keeping an eye on our fridge from now on and if any unexplained Yarg shows up youll be hearing from my lawyers. ( )
Cordially,
Grynch, ESQ.

I'm very happy to help. Your products are delicious and husband has pre-approved more purchases The stilton and chutney is disappearing much too quickly for our liking! I'll definitely let the ladies and gents know you'll be around at the English church. Sorry to sound obtuse but can you tell me where it is? |

I haven't time today to make an event, but basically it will be a cheese and wine evening (wine from South Africa) and there will be a small entry fee TBC. I will be giving a presentation and there will be lots of cheese to try. I'll also be selling and giving a percentage to the church.
Please spread the word as much as you can, it will be a public event to held raise funds for the church. I will also be asking for 2 or 3 people to help me walk around the room with trays of cheese. | This user would like to thank grumpygrapefruit for this useful post: | |

The van was full of giggling 5yr olds, trying to chase poor Mike, "you won't dare to tickle us, will ya, shreeeeek shreeeeek run run run" which went for hours. You are so patient. She really did polish of the quarter wheel before we got home, I gota buy more next time I am in ZU which with AG now, weee heee, watch out!
It was a fun event, the Palexpo as well, I didn't talk to Mud yet but I am sure he has found the beers in the fridge already, you are a star. I have met other really lovely EFers there, it was a nice surprise, shout out to Aarau, yes, please, the Barbie cake for beginning of dec. Fab spiritual talk as well, I wouldn't have expect it.
So, apart from lovely food, Mike's events always put nice EFers together, in the most natural and awesome ways. LS it is, though I might be taking a horrid exam in Prague, if I am not, I don't mind wearing the blue apron.

Great to meet you all and thanks for making us feel very welcome. The cheese was indeed spectacular, along with the ale. The kiddies did enjoy themsleves and were ordered by the parents to "hang on the legs of the cheese man" in order to prevent him from packing up too quickly! Will hopefully catch up with you all again soon.

If only Lausanne wasn't so far away... | | | | | No, it's not the SA wine you think it is, but I am sure it will still be spectacular. And it's Friday night... train after work and stay in a cheap hotel like me... then Saturday more wine and cheese in Geneva. You know it makes sense | Quote: | | | | | Great to meet you all and thanks for making us feel very welcome. The cheese was indeed spectacular, along with the ale.
