Well, I`m feeling pretty pleased with myself after successfully completing (that means a PASS) the 5 day shore-based theory part of the RYA day skippers course.
A really enjoyable, quite intense course - a big big thanks to the skipper eng_ch at RYA theory courses for a very well structured course . . and obviously for coaching us through it!
I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting into sailing this year.
Next stop, the Med, for the practical assessment . . . can`t wait.
Hopefully then . . . it`s Basher at the helm and shiver me timbers matey!

Try and go somewhere tidal in the Med e.g. Gibraltar. With a tidal ticket you can sail in both tidal and non-tidal areas, but vice-versa not so and you would have to do a further course to upgrade.

Thanks for that useful info - which indeed I was alread advised on the theory course.
One sensible step at a time - My plan was always to start in the non-tidal waters of the Med and then do the upgrade for the tidal certificate.
