For those who can't make January, or miss out if it's full, Sail YSL will be running another RYA Day Skipper theory course in March 2014.

The dates are 8/9, 15/16 & 22 March.

If you have an ambition to charter a yacht in the Med (for instance), then Day Skipper is the ideal qualification.

This course is the theory part and you will need to demonstrate knowledge of the subjects covered by this course in order to pass the practical part.

More information about the course here: http://sail-ysl.ch/rya-day-skipper-theory/

Contact me by PM or via www.sail-ysl.ch/contact to book or if you have any questions.

Sailing in the Med and on Lake Zurich

If you'd like to find out for yourself why basher and jeremyjnelson so enjoyed the Sail YSL Day Skipper theory course, you have another opportunity this March. It's the ideal time to take the course, the promise of summer and sailing is in the air but there's no need to waste valuable time in the classroom that you could be spending on the water. It's also late enough in the winter that the information will be fresh in your mind just in time for the 2014 season.

Do tides tickle your fancy? Does navigation rock your boat? If so, contact me asap to reserve your space!

Re: RYA Day Skipper theory course

Just to let everyone know this course has unfortunately had to be postponed. I'm looking at dates in June for the next course. Please drop me a line if you'd like to be one of the first to know when the dates are finalised

A classroom-based course for the Swiss theory in English is something I'd like to offer, but I've already got two major development projects for this year. I've mentally pencilled it in for next year, that's my goal anyway, but it would be good to gauge interest in it.

If you are able to learn via self-study, there are a couple of CD courses available in English, and the theory exam is also available in English, although from experience some of the translations are a bit questionable.

It's not possible to take the practical exam in English but I do also offer an exam crew/interpreter service. As a professional sailor and a professional linguist, you can hire me as your exam crew in the confidence that I know what I'm doing on a boat and can also act as interpreter between you and the examiner (German-speaking areas only though)

Thanks , this may be interesting as my husband would like to get his boat licence but needs to do both the Theory and Practical in English.
