Hello everyone.
Want to learn to sail, experience the differences and similarities between dinghies and yachts, and gain 3 - yes 3 ! - RYA qualifications in the process?
If so, come and join us in Greece for the week of 30 September 2017! You will stay on our fabulous yacht, Cloud Nine (
www.cloud9sailing.ch) for the week, based in Nidri, Levkas for the first four days while you learn the fundamentals - emphasis on "fun" - of sailing dinghies. You will then spend the next 2-3 days island hopping, visiting some of the most beautiful places you can imagine and enjoying the fare offered by the local tavernas in the evenings, and see how the principles you have learned on small boats scale up to a yacht.
After a successful week, you should be the proud possessor of the following qualifications:
RYA Dinghy Level 1 (Start Sailing):
The entry-level course for those that have never sailed before. At the end of the first 2 days you should be able to sail in all directions in light winds under supervision.
RYA Dinghy Level 2 (Basic Skills):
Building on what you have learned in Level 1, after days 3 and 4 you will be able to rig and launch your boat, sail in all directions, and know how to recover a capsize.
The two dinghy courses form a solid basis for improving your skills on small boats, eventually progressing to spinnakers, racing and day sailing.
RYA Start Yachting:
Over the last 2 days on the water, you will learn about the yacht, ropework, steering under sail and power, rules of the road, man overboard recovery, clothing and equipment, emergency equipment and precautions, meteorology.
This entry-level yachting qualification will enable you to complete the next level, Competent Crew, in just 3 days and forms a great basis for learning more sailing theory and eventually gaining your Day Skipper qualification, enabling you to start chartering yachts on your own.
If you have previously done a level 1 dinghy course in a past life, it would also be possible for you to do dinghy level 2 and level 3 instead.
The cost of the week including accommodation and all three courses is CHF 1950 per person excluding travel.
September/October is one of the very best times to sail in Greece; the temperatures are more moderate than in high summer but the clear azure waters are very warm, having had the sun beating down on them all year.
This is a unique offering and we have just 2 spaces left. If you would like to join us for this exciting week, PM me or contact me via the contact form at
