City/Town: Zurich
Event Type: Special Promotion
Location: Orell Füssli, Bahnhofstrasse 70, CH 8001
Price: Free Entry

Tomorrow, Saturday 16th May, Orell Füssli have invited me to do a free tasting of some of our special British Farmhouse cheeses as part of their British Food promotion.

Not sure what I'm bringing yet, but it will include 2 or 3 real cheddars, Stilton & Shropshire and some rareties, including Swaledale, Rachel goat, Duddleswell Sheep, Wife of Bath and Devon Oke and, if I have enough, some Wensleydale and Red Cheshire. I think I'll also bring along some Lanark Blue, aka the Kilt Lifter.

There'll be some wine to wash the cheese down as well and I'll have a little cheese to sell on the day. The tasting and wine though is free

I've set the end of this event to 5 pm but OF have advertised this a lot so we could run out of cheese early. If you can only come late on, probably best to call the shop on 044 211 04 44 to see if there is any left.

See you there!

It was nice to meet a few new faces and and bring home a couple cheeses, crackers and chutney! Maybe I'll read that vampire novel one day.

Re: Orell Füssli, British Cheese tasting

That was a busy day! And thanks Nathu for volunteering to take the empty wine bottles to the bottle bank on your way home. And for... well, you know who you all are, for emptying them in the first place .

Orell Füssli seemed very happy with the day as we brought quite a number of visitors along and they are already talking about making this a regular event. I ran out of cheese about 4.30 so will know to bring more next time.

And more wine, of course.

Re: Orell Füssli, British Cheese tasting

I didn't want to start yet another thread for this, so thought I'd just tag onto this one.

I'll be at OF again tomorrow (Saturday 15th May) from 11 - 5 with lots of cheese to try for free, I'll also have a few bottles of wine. Although I do sell some cheese on the day, these open days are more to do with learning about real British farm cheeses, as well as a nice social get together over a few glasses of wine.

Tomorrow I'll have about 3 cheddars, Caerphilly, Wensleydale, Red Leicester, Double Berkeley and some more unusual ones including some smoked and a couple of unusual blues.

Nothing like a good natter with some cheese and wine to beat these rainy day blues!

Re: Orell Füssli, British Cheese tasting

Cheers Weelad. That was a lovely day, nice to see lots of friendly faces. Someone though left a bag behind, it contained some Godminster and Dunsyre Blue, if it was someone from EF let me know and I'll re-cut them for you Wednesday. In the meantime..... mmmmm

If noone else claims it, it must have been mine

Sssshhhhhhh - it was a wee initiative test by GG to see who's been shopping in OF on a Sunday when it's not Christmas.

Yes, 16th May 2010 would be Sunday (today) but in 2009 it was a Saturday
