City/Town: Zug
Event Type: Special Promotion
Location: Moevenpick Wine shop. Baarerstrasse 141
Price: Free entry

Port & Stilton (in a glass and on an oat cake - not mixed together) are the perfect English Christmas treat and Saturday 19th December my good friend Urs Schwerzmann at the Moevenpick Wein Keller in Zug has invited me over to offer a tasting of my Cropwell Bishop Stilton (both standard and Organic/BIO - there is a big difference!) with some of his port and 30 or 40 other wines. I'll also have about 20 other British & Irish cheeses to taste including 3 or 4 cheddars.

Wander through the wine aisles helping yourself to wine and cheese - it's all free (you can buy some to take home if you like ) and enjoy the jovial company. Hope to see you there! (if you can't make it, I'll have lots of cheese tatsing packs on-line by tomorrow night and I'll also be at the Rapperswil & Luzern Christmas markets)

It's actually the same weekend, well Thursday 17th - Sunday 20th somewhere in the old town. Paul from Vintage & Vine in Luzern will have a couple of bottles of port for free tasting at our stall so you won't miss out completely.

Re: It's that Port & Stilton time of year!

Someone just sent me this interesting Wall St Journal video about Stilton Village and one guys plan to try to get permission to make it there. The footage of the cheesemaking is actually shot at Cropwell Bishop where our Stilton is made.

Red Leicester and Port is also good.... Infact, the Red Leicester you supply and anything is great

Trust your special Rarebits will be on sale again this year - and what's the cheese of choice this for them this year ?? - worked amazingly well with Red Leicester

(guess what cheese I like)

Yup, Red Leicester (but not the Sparkenhoe, that's a bit too good). I have a more basic version of RL just for the Whisky Rarebits. These will be served at the Rappi & Luzern Christmas markets, and maybe at the Rappi Bier Factory this coming Saturday evening.

I have done before and should be doing more there in the new year (as well as the Zürich Enge one). I don't post all events on EF though so you may miss them if you're not on my Newsletter list or Facebook fan page.

We now are stocking a range of Ports including the Fonseca Vintage 97 - Fr. 95, Nieport 10 Year Old Tawny 75, Noval LBV 2003 - 35, Noval Ruby - 23, Barao 10 year Old Tawny in wooden box - 49, 2005 Barao Tawny Decanter 30

Unfortunately not all will be on tasting with Mike.... but all are available in store...

Cheers

Nice to see you all Saturday. Moevenpick liked it so much (also the CEO popped in for a quick nibble) they want to do it again this Thursday (Christmas Eve) from 9am.

It should be a nice way to kick start Christmas!

Providing we don't get any more snow I'll be there at 9 am checking that the port wine is good enough for my cheese!

I'll probably have a few 200 gr Stilton pots left on special offer, 23.00 each instead of 29.00 but also plenty of standard & BIO stilton wedges, a bit of Shropshire Blue, plenty of Lanark & Dunsyre blues and Stinking Bishop, Barkham Blue, Cashel & Crozier Blue (this one is amazing!) from Ireland as well as the usual cheddars, Red Leicester, Wensleydale etc...

Jelmoli in Zurich have also placed a top up order for this week which they will have tomorrow in case you can't get to Zug
