But the other pub quiz I've been to here in Switzerland doesn't charge "subscription". And if you win (which I usually do when I bother to turn up) you get most of your bar tab covered by the winnings.

Hi guys, I have been looking at some of the quiz threads around and have question on the general content of quizzes here in Zurich. In terms of quizzes in English pubs, what audience and categories are used the most? Are they generally Anglo-centric in terms of history and knowledge required? I wanted to organise a team event and thought about a quiz but have concerns as there are many swiss/americans in my team, would they be able to contribute anything and have a fun time or would they feel lost. I am worried about people feeling useless in the world of the 1066,1666, Eastenders, and Heat?

Just because it's not the normal way your do it, doesn't mean it's not a way to do it. And in fact, it's fairly standard.

I'd still rather pay a subscription of 0 chf. |

Haha, DUH, I buy some just about every week. I keep telling my Swiss husband that Rosti are hashbrowns. It took me years to convince him; we know the truth!

It is not anglo-centric at all, and can range from geography, art, music, films, history (I remember a couple of questions on American presidents), languages and the occasional Swiss question thrown in.

I am sure the quiz is still alive. Not sure exactly when - either the first or third Saturday of the month. Give them a call?
Check out the one at the Shamrock every Sunday. Great atmosphere and lots of smart alecs you can take down a peg or two | This user would like to thank summerrain for this useful post: | |

No way would I do a pub quiz that charged 5 CHF to take part when I KNOW that me and my team would be putting hundred(s) into their drinks coffers, it's bloody cheeky.
Shamrock is free and so is St Josephs (every second week). Another reason to avoid McGees, if the perpetually dead atmosphere weren't enough.
