Hi folks,
In case any of you are into live gigs and aren't already aware, there's a lot coming up in the late summer / autumn months.
One of the things I love about living here is that we are spoilt for choice for great music of all genres, and in addition get to see some of the lesser known up and coming artists, that possibly sell out way bigger venues back home, up close in small, intimate venues, such as the Abart club in Zurich. Of course there's also the big mainstream acts that pass through the Hallenstadion or similar arenas.
Here's a selection of what's coming up (for which tickets are still available, as far as i'm aware). Some i'm going to, some I can't (it also gets expensive, some of the tickets are quite pricey

). But it would be fun to meet some fellow music fans. If anyone wants to go to something but doesn't want to go alone, get in touch!
Gnarls Barkley (29th August - Maag Event Hall, Zürich)
Pearl Jam (13th September - Arena, Bern)
The Automatic (16th September - Abart, Zürich)
The Divine Comedy (6th October - Kaufleuten, Zürich)
Placebo (6th October - Hallenstadion, Zürich)
Matt Costa (9th October - Abart, Zürich)
The Datsuns (10th October - Abart, Zürich)
Snow Patrol (18th October - Rohstofflager, Zürich)
Jet (22nd October - City Halle, Winterthur)
Corinne Bailey Rae (25th October - Volkshaus, Zürich)
The Kooks (6th November - Abart, Zürich)
Ben Harper (20th October - Arena, Geneva / 7th November - St Jakobshalle, Basel)
[As i'm a twenty-something Brit living in Zurich, a lot of these are more Brit-oriented rock/pop music in Zurich-centric venues, so apologies to those of you with different tastes in different areas! There are, of course, many other great concerts on your doorsteps if you keep your eyes and ears open!!]
Most tickets are available online at
starticket and/or
ticketcorner. I find it's usually worth checking starticket first though, as with the print-at-home ticketing option you save yourself a few chfs on the handling/processing/credit card/postage fees that ticketcorner always slaps you with. Of course, ticketcorner also has counters and agents where you can buy your tickets in person. Kaufleuten in Zurich also has a series of concerts, some interesting artists pop up now and again - check their
website for details. All of the mentioned sites offer mailing list options to keep you up to date and fill your inbox with spam if you're a live music junkie (a.k.a. groupie?!) like me
Happy bopping!
