| | DVDs grey imports
Hi,
Currently in China and buying some DVDs @ interesting prices. Toy Story 3, just 15 CHF. Price includes P&P (registered mail) within in Switzerland on my return in the new year. Anybody out there want me to buy some movies for them, room in my case for a few more.
Limited offer, don't want to buy more than three copies of the same movie, don't want to buy more than 24 DVDs in total.
Kosha DVDs; wrapped in plastic, purchased from a Japanese department store here.
Send me a PM if your interested. Would ask you you make a transfer bank2bank in advance. Obviously you need all zone DVD player to play them, and the sound track will be in Chinese and English (only); assuming you want hollywood releases?

Do not bring any illegal copies into Switzerland. The customs will be waiting with their rubber gloves and receipt book open for your fine.

15 chf is not really that interesting considering it's about amazon & Play's average price.

They are sold in a high street department store, shrink wrapped...

If I may say something. I lived in China for several years and except for Hong Kong, anywhere else it's really hard to say. Pirate DVD's can come perfectly produced, packed and even with counterfeit security stickers. Even if they're proper DVD's it can be difficult to explain at Customs, specially if you're coming with more than 1 piece of each movie.

DrPoi | | | | | I agree ( except I wasn't actually 100% sure about some of the stuff I bought in HK either.) But 15chf sounds quite expensive for pirated mainland dvd's. It's a while since I was living there., but at the time, the pirated one's sold for 10rmb each - I think that is under 2CHF, both on the street and in shops.
Eeer.... what's the current price for Northface jackets with the zip out fleece inner? |

Why bother with these bootleg dvd's? bought some once on holidays myself, ending with a half a** dvd filmed by a video cam in the cinema.. fun to see that during the movie, now and then people stand up and walk around in the cinema
That and why take the risk.. you know they target flights from certain countries right? just saying, be careful what you bring back or your luggage will not be the only thing checked.. open wide..

Oops, sorry, mid-2009), were from 5rmb for zip out fleece inners to 10-12rmb for in case, properly printed dvd's. What I mean is that even if you pay those 15chf in a real shop you probably feel that you may be buying pirated stuff. |

DrPoi | | | | | Chuckle! No problem. from what you say, the price of the pirated movies has not gone up over the years, since they first hit the market.
NOw back top the Northface...I bought one ten years ago for 120rmb. It's still got another couple of years of wear in it I think, but I am curious as to whether the Beijing Pearl market still stocks them ( does the Pearl market stilll exist?) and if so, what sort of prices are being asked now. I don't know if they were real ones perhaps fallen off the back of a truck, or if they were pirated, but at that price everyone bought them. A photo would have been a good advert for Northface, as even the four year olds turned up to school in them in winter.

I've never shopped in Bejing since I lived way down South and could do all my shopping there, but for what I've heard, in Beijing most foreigners go to the Silk Market which prices have gone skyrocket. It's always possible to find other places, but the 120 bucks you paid wouldn't bring you to a well-finished decent quality Northface nowadays, I'm afraid. I remember I bought one of those (don't remember the brand, but it wasn't Northface), for a trip to Scandinavia while I was living in China and could bargain it to around 300. Still a hell of a price for a very decent coat.
