| | Re: Car hire / Sixt - Any Questions | Quote: | | | | | My husband just rented the Mercedes E-Class from SIXT in Zurich. The Navigation system was in German. Google results said that the only way to change the Mercedes Nav. to English is to get another DVD...Is this correct? Can they change them at the SIXT locations or are they only available in German in Zurich? Curious for next time. Thank you. | | | | | The Mercedes E-Class has just one CD. You can change the language in the button settings.
The change of languages with the CD is only in cars like Audi. They have 2 Cd´s system.
I hope this helps, ask in branch before leaving, they will show you how to change the language.

Dear Gary,
I live in Switzerland and rented a car in July12. During my rental I realised that someone must have scratched the doors on driver's side while having the car parked during the night. We reported it, but obviously dont know who did it really. Now we got a bill and I was wondering for which purposes "the liability insurance for third party damages" is? General Conditions say following:
15.4. Liability insurance for third party damages
The Lessee and each authorized driver are insured under a motor vehicle third party insurance.
This third party insurance covers physical injuries and property damages of third parties up to a
maximum sum insured in the amount of CHF 100,000,000.ñ and is limited to Europe.
Do you think this could help me? I wouldnt like to pay quite lot of money (1200 CHF for a small scratch of 5 cm) for something I didnt cause.
Thank you for the answer!
Kristina

Gary, I just wanted to say I think it's very impressive that you and your company would do something like this. Having lived in America before Sixt entered the market there, I only used your company once in Spain, and was perfectly satisfied, and considering what you're doing here, will continue to rent cars from Sixt in the future. | This user would like to thank Principia Discordia for this useful post: | |

Kristina | | | | | It really depends on the waiver that you have for your rental. The waiver reduces your liabilty to a specified amount. For extra peace of mind you can pay an additional waiver to reduce your liabilty. Can you send me a message with your reservation number.
I will be happy to check.
The clause you mentioned relates to damages caused to third parties and not by third parties which appears to be true in your case.
I hope the info helps and look forward to receiving your message.

So to clarify , if I rent from Sixt for 2 weeks from BHX airport you will take approx £1000 from my credit card ? | Quote: | | | | | Hi JanerMacP I'm sure the majority of you guys in this forum pay your bills, but we have procedures that protect us for the guys that don't. A car is our asset, can be several thousands if not multiple of tens of thousands of pounds. The average cost of a rental is around 150 Euros, on average we block up to three times the expected rental cost incase of additional charges such as extensions on the rental, fuel or damage. This is typical for any Sixt rental in any country not just Switzerland. Our prices do not include insurance automatically for Switzerland as we provide the option for each of our customers if they wish to take the Sixt insurance or not to as we only want our customers to pay for what they want. Here in the UK it is mandatory for the insurance to be included however comments received by some customers is different as not all customers want to pay for the insurance. Please let me know if you have any further questions. King Regards, Marie

Generally
A deposit of up to three times the hire price is charged to the chosen means of payment as a security. The deposit for high-value vehicles may differ. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.
The amount is blocked on the card as a security, this means that it remains in your account but you can't spend it. In case we need it to pay for extras, for example fuel or damage.
I hope this information helps.

Sorry but that means I will stick to Avis as they have never taken a deposit off me. But appreciate the quick response.

I am driving with my left foot due to a disability, I have a mobile/portable left accelerator tool kit, since I want to rent a car I wanted to know if the law in Switzerland allow or forbid Portable accelerator it.
Or maybe if the law forbid it where can I rent a car with fixed/permanent left foot accelerator.

Unfortunately I am unable to advise further, if you have a successful conclusion to your question and wish to hire a vehicle feel free to contact me directly and I will ensure all goes smoothly. Hope that helps, Gary

Hi Gary
I am happy Sixt customer and I have already had some of your now EF popular generosity.
As I am not so greedy, I am asking for a little favor here.
I would like to rent the BMW M3 with the special summer offer in Germany. It costs 99 Euro per day for the coupe and 129 Euro for the convertible and these prices are valid at the Frankfurt a. M. Zentrum-Zeil center. So here are my questions:
1. Can I have the option of dropping the car off in Zurich?
2. If I need to pick and drop the care in Frankfurt is there any chance of getting a VAT free rate as I reside in Switzerland?
Thanks,
Kalyan

1) Conditions state that one-way rentals are not possible. Often these types of vehicles are only held at their larger facilities. In my experience exceptions to this MAY be made if you are picking up and then dropping off at 2 facilities in the same city (EG City location and airport location).
2) You are paying for a service in a country you can't escape their VAT. You are not purchasing something for export/personal import to another country.
