Interested in Importing a car from Germany, contact me!

Hello all,

Importing a car from Germany or elsewhere to Swiss makes perfect sense economically -

1. Car price is a lot cheaper in Germany
2. German 19% VAT is returned back, and you pay 8% Swiss VAT plus admin fees, all in all, you save quite a bit.
(to give you an idea, approx 5% for a car where gross value you paid in Germany 18000 Euros, so the more expensive the car, the higher percentage is what you save).

With my experience of buying the car - second hand or new, I can offer you support on:

1. Searching for the car based on your specs. - New or Second hand
2. Getting an EU wide + Swiss Guarantee
3. Getting the temporary insurance - both third party and car insurance
4. Getting Temporary number plate for the period of transit
5. Custom clearance in Swiss
6. Pollution test certificate
7. Car test in Swiss
8. Number registration in Swiss
9. Insurance in Swiss - both third party and car insurance (Haftpflicht and vollkasko/teilkasko)
10. Fixing the number plate
11. Managing all paperwork
12. To make you aware on specific risks and regulations that might make it expensive for you to get the car in Swiss.
13. Give you an estimate of what the end price of the car will be.

All that it takes to choose the car until you are on the road! I will take care of everything for you.
If you are keen to avail the services, feel free to contact me.

Divya

Re: Interested in Importing a car from Germany, contact me!

Seems like a good service, questions:
  • What is your commission?
  • Do you have an actual business/website etc..?
  • Do you have any references/how many times have you done this?
  • How long does it take from identifying your ideal car to getting it on your driveway? e.g. I've heard that some MFK testing centres have v.long waits
  • Do you personally handle the VAT return i.e. send the stamped forms back to the German dealer?
Cheers

I'm surprised the saving is only 5%. Hardly seems worth the fuss, especially when you can easily more than 5% off in Switzerland...

I find that second hand car prices in DE are a lot more realistic than CH. Even if I paid the full price (inc DE VAT) I would still be saving money.

With the exception of the airline (which is short for Swiss International Air Lines) Swiss is not a name, but an adjective in English. My Swiss passport fits neatly with my British passport. But the country is not called British. Nor is this country called Swiss in any language. In French it is called La Suisse. To those with cloth ears this may sound like the English word Swiss, but it is not the same.

If you live here it is a fundamental that you can at least get the name of the country correct...

What is your commission?
1500 CHF or 1% of car's gross value - whichever is higher.
Do you have an actual business/website etc..?
I have started this as a hobby, its something that I do partime.
Do you have any references/how many times have you done this?
I have done it for myself and for friends 3-4 times now.
How long does it take from identifying your ideal car to getting it on your driveway? e.g. I've heard that some MFK testing centres have v.long waits
Anywhere between 2 to 6 weeks. I have had cases where it took only 1 week and cases where it took 6 weeks.
Do you personally handle the VAT return i.e. send the stamped forms back to the German dealer?
Yes, I offer this service as well, and then usually the German dealer transfers the VAT directly to the customer's bank account.
